Thanks to a full-grain leather upper and a midsole made from a combination of recycled polyurethane, cork, and memory foam, the KEEN Men’s Briggs II Shoe not only looks great, but it gives you a custom, contoured fit that adjusts throughout the day. The waterproof leather and non-marking rubber sole give the Briggs a protective, supportive edge without compromising style.

comfy but fugly.

could go without a lot of the stitching. keen is not known for fashionable shoes or sandals, and although they can be comfy, they do have some construction flaws. i prefer chaco.

Great shoe, but lousy sole!

By:
January 10, 2012

Title says it all. The shoes fit great, after about 8 months the uppers are in fine shape, but the soles are worn right out. Love the fit and look, but would never buy again due to the premature wear of the sole.

The Most Comfortable!

By:
October 25, 2009

These are really some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn! The footbeds are incredibly soft and seem to form to your feet. They are typical Keen shoes so they fit wider feet but if you have narrow feet like mine you'll just have a little breathing room. The leather feels extremely durable so you don't have to worry about them falling apart. They fit true to size according to the sizing chart provided and also the same as other Keen shoes. These are really a Must Have!!!

Ain't Got No Sole

By:
December 10, 2009

I love Keen. This shoe, however, stomps all over that love. They're comfy, but after two weeks of casual off and on wear, the sole just came off. So if you don't mind going barefoot in your new pair of shoes, these are GREAT.

Very good

By:
December 11, 2011

A slightly rugged but handsome shoe. Slate black is more of a light olive/brown, and the two tone look is quite subtle. Good tread for a casual shoe, grips well on a variety of surfaces but not overly aggressive. Leather is decent quality but soaks up moisture very easily, so if you plan to wear in wet weather be sure to treat them with nikwax or something similar first.

Fit true to size, unlike some keens (e.g. Targhee II). Medium width overall with a slightly wider heel, and good volume in toe-box (more than for many other keens), plus the classic keen wide/squared toe. Fit is different than the Austins, with the Briggs having both more volume and width in the toes. These are also a bit heavier, feel like they might be a little more durable.

The volume is quite adjustable depending on how they are laced. Tied snuggly, they fit my medium width, low instep, low volume/narrow heeled and square toed feet well enough. But they could definitely fit a higher volume foot with a wider heel.

The footbeds are unique compared to other keens - they're very thick, with a thinner open cell foam over a denser poly-urethane closed-cell foam underneath. They are very comfortable. The footbeds provide moderate arch support.

They are stiff at first, especially the edges of the tongue and around the ankle bones for bony feet like mine, but they begin to soften quickly. A few days of wear should break them in enough to wear for long walks.

Make my feet sweaty, but most leather shoes do. Wearing in freezing weather kept my feet comfortable when moving, but wouldn't want to stand around long in them.

Overall a very good shoe. I've only worn them a few days so I can't speak about long-term durability, but they seem and feel well made, much like all my other Keens.

Got these for my husband to wear for "dressier" occasions and he looks them! They're comfortable and they look good! Run true to size and have a slightly wider fit.

Second Pair of Briggs II

By:
March 28, 2011

This is my second pair of Keen Briggs II shoes. The first pair bought in November 2009 was easily the best pair of shoes I have every owned. I have noticed that my new pair (March 2011) is slightly heavier much stiffer. The stiffness makes the shoes much less comfortable. That being said, they are still a great pair of daily walkers. I would not wear anything else.

Adequate.

By:
February 19, 2011

I bought a pair of these on sale this summer to wear for a couple months while my pricey custom-made shoes were being rebuilt. When the custom shoes came back messed up, I had to rely on the Keens full-time. Essentially, I had a two-month test drive, and the shoes fit me well and were extremely comfortable. I have wide, square Fred Flinstone feet with no arches. These shoes are light and comfy.

I didn't really expect them to stand up to day-in day-out workplace wear. I was right. Within a month on the job, the stitching blew out. I went to the local shoe repair place, and when I walked in the door, the guy called out the Keens right away. He said he sees the stitching give out all the time. Part of it is because the leather is nice and thick, so it doesn't give, but the stitching does. I had the repair done the day I noticed the damage. It was quick and he only charged five bucks.

Granted, the shoes are only six months old, so I'm disappointed that they need to be repaired so soon. But the repair was cheap, and in this modern world of "good enough," I suppose these shoes are just fine.

Wide but that's about it

By:
December 9, 2010

I have very wide feet and the keens always fit me but I've always been dissapointed with them. The construction is pretty shoddy and 6 months is about all you can reasonably expect from them. My brother with similar feet had one pair fail within two days (the stitching just blew out completely) and I've had one pair give out after a couple of weeks.

Of course I'm an idiot for continuing to buy them but I have yet to find another set of shoes which is really wide enough. As soon as I do I'll switch over.

The comfort really isn't up to snuff either, my feet usually ache at the end of the day.

simply amazing

wow...the most comfortable shoe i have worn in years. no kidding! I have foot problems and must wear orthotics to give my arch some support. Many shoes are hard to find that fit my situation like i need. These shoes have a very protective toe cover, great for the kind of work i do, climbing up and down ladders and playing with tools and screws and such. After a long day of work i used to come home and immediately take off my timberlands/skate shoes/wolverine boots/or any of the other countless shoes i have tried. I get home now and usually dont even think about taking them off!! but now since i bought the KEEN coronado, i take these off after work and slip into another keen brand shoe and have equal satisfaction. The price is higher than normal for me...but a great investment. the sizing runs perfect as well...great fit for me...10.5
out of a 10 i give this shoe a 9.5.

I wore these shoes for a couple months on and off, nothing too severe, when suddenly the stitching on the front of the shoe in one of the leather panels suddenly tore open. i debated whether or not to take the shoes back but after wearing them for 3 more days the tear got bigger by the day. I kept the shoes in my car and finally had time today so i stopped by the retail store with no box and no receipt....and they took them back, gave me a brand new pair or the same exact shoe (exactly what i wanted), and i was on my way.
that easy! no hassling or haggling with the return. They were super laid back and very good to do business with. I'm glad that's where i decided to buy a pair of 100 dollar shoes and in the future i'll do it again!
thanks backcountry.com!

Nice shoes, sort of clunky

By:
May 13, 2010

Shoes were mostly comfortable out of the box but there was some ankle rub that took a week or two to break in on my smaller foot. I really like the footbed, as it is molding itself to my foot and feeling nice. The shoes are great for work, around town and tough too. No noticeable wear despite a month of constant use. They do have a wide toe box so they look somewhat clunky and wide. The lacing system is tough to work with as well, the laces are quite close together and really lie flat on the tongue. I would also appreciate a longer tongue as the one on the shoe always seems like it's about to disappear under the laces even though it won't.

Overall a really nice show, Keen continues to impress me.

A NO BRAINER !!!!!

By:

GOOD GOD YALL!!!!!! THESE SHOES ARE PHATER THAN THAN THE LADY IN THE FIRST ROW OF YOUR CHURCH CHOIR!!!! I have wide feet and a high arch and have spent the last ten years buying one size up. One size up means extra material at the front to make you clumsy and bulky. I finally wore out my 1st pair of these after three years...the Structural integrity was still flawless- I just wore the sole all the way through. Spend the extra money on these or the new version and avoid having to buy any other shoe for a long time. I wore these dressed up and dressed down/ hiked in them/ biked in them. If you have knee problems and low back pain these are good for you too. Most don't realize what you put on your feet affects the alignment of your entire body! Treat your body right and avoid becoming one of my patients!!!! THANK YOU KEEN!!!!!!

Please Keen

By:

Keen --- please, please go back to the original. The white stitching was more fashionable. My new pair squeaks like a mouse with a problem. Love your shoes, don't skimp. It's not too late, don't ruin your brand!

Round 2

By:
November 29, 2009

I purchased a pair 2 months ago and wore it right away to run some shopping errands. Within an hour of wearing them, I noticed a big hole on the top-right side of my shoe. The stitching was poor and left a big gaping hole. I was bummed out to say the least. Backcountry's customer support was great with the return of the defective product (quick and painless). I was hoping that they would reimburse me for the shipping bill back but found out it is not part of their policy. I've always like the look of Keen products. They're comfortable and fit wider feet which prompted me to buy another pair. I plan to use these as my everyday utility shoe.
