I had issues with sizing also until I figured out these say they are women's shoes, but they come in men's sizes. I Wear a size 8.5-9 women's and when I ordered the size 9 it was huge. Returned it thinking it was just that shoe and got another men's size 9. I finally got the right shoe and so far (besides the new shoe blisters) I love them. I can't stress how great the arch support is. Just ordered my husband a pair and can't wait to really get to use them when we go hiking in the Smokey Mtns.

Sizing an Issue

I've had this shoe for four years-lived in the shoes...wore them to pieces trekking in Alaska and just bought a replacement pair. But. I'm a 7.5-bought a size 7 and it was huge, so be careful with sizing. Could have just been the pair I got because they seemed a little stretched out (were they a bit used?), and my first fabulous pair was a 7. Maybe check with someone at Backcountry before buying to assure you get the right size. Outside of sizing, it's a great shoe...

Love them....they are great with socks and without. I had to get a size smaller than I normally wear in Keens. I wear orthotics and these accomodate them great. This is my first pair, but my husband has practically lived in his the last 3 or 4 years.

Hi all; I bought an 8 in this shoe - and without socks - they are ever so slightly big; I have to really tighten the draw string to get a good fit without slippage. I can't imagine wearing these with socks alot - but with a pair of smartwool running socks - the shoes fit great. Should I bump down to a 7.5?

I wish I had an answer for you but it is all personal preference. I have seen people wear them with socks and without. One thing you could try, put a pair of insoles in them and that might tighten it up the 1/2 size you are looking for when you don't want to wear socks.
Best shoes ever

I have had a pair of the Arroyo and one of the Boulder (very similar style and fit). They are the greatest because they are light and versatile and they look cool. For travel, they are a much better option than clunkier types of athletic shoes -- good for hiking, jogging, walking around town. The fit is true to size. I have a pair of the Keen sandals and I don't like them as much -- not enough support in the heel and ankle. So here's the question -- why can't I find these shoes any more? Is Keen discontinuing the best thing they've got going?

These are the best all around shoes I have ever bought. They are super comfortable, support your feet, and allow ventilation. For sure I will get another pair if I can find them.

I bought a pair of these a few years back and have literally worn them out. I haven't seen any around and they seem hard to find. Are they still being manufactured?

I bought a pair of these for myself and a pair for my teenage daughter who is going hiking this summer. I had to exchange mine for a size smaller (I ordered hers smaller to begin with.) I love the way they feel, although I agree they're a little wide in the heel. The stretch laces don't bother me much, although I do have to adjust them periodically over the course of a day.
My daughter has yet to put them on - my guess is they're just a little clunky for her taste.

It is showing me to pictures of the same shoe but different colors. Deep Lichen / Sweet Pea is the only color offered. What colors is that consist of. I don't want to buy a shoe where I dislike the color. thank you

Deep Lichen/Sweet Pea is the main photo, in the row titled "1 More". The photos in the row titled "9 Detail Views" are detail photos of the same shoe in a different color. If you order a shoe now in the Deep Lichen/Sweet Pea color, it will be the color pictured in the main photo and the "1 More" photo, NOT the color shown in the "9 Detail Views" photos.
Feel great; fit and laces need tweaking.

Like all Keens, they feel great right out of the box and need no breaking in. The only problems: the heel is wide and my heel keeps slipping out. I have to wear socks for the shoes to fit. The other problem: the laces don't tie, but have a slide to tighten them, and they loosen easily. Periodically, I have to stop and tighten the laces.

Is there any metatarsal support in the foot bed? I get a pinching pain that goes from my heel to the metatarsals. I wear a foot support which helps.
Thanks!

These have an insert inside that you can take to your specialty store to get your metatarsal pad added! That is why I am considering them. I have really, really high arches and I have to get ALL my shoes from a specialty store and get arches and met lift pads added. But these are so comfy, I may not have to get them modified. I just wish they had better colors, like the Newport that comes in pink :(

These shoes are super comfortable, even in cold weather (just wear socks). I have wide feet, and Keens always fit me well. They also have more than average support in the arch and heel area. Highly recommend them!
My All Time Favourite Hiking Shoes

I have used previously a predecessor of this sandal and it my all time favourite hiking wear. I have put thousands of kilometers on on different trails and wear it from May to October. It is sturdy enough to provide good protection all around, has a really good thread, the bed is comfortable and it is open enough to prevent my feet from overheating in the summer. I am so glad Keen decided to bring it back, I can finally retire my old ones.
