Alaska Boot - Women's

If your local weather station typically measures snowfall in feet instead of inches, Keen’s Alaska Boot for women might be a good investment this winter. This super-tall, waterproof boot comes packed with a whopping 400g of KeenDry insulation to keep your toes (and a good portion of your leg) cozy, warm, and dry.

  • Waterproof leather upper looks sharp and provides a primary barrier against winter weather
  • KeenDry waterproof breathable membrane lets excess heat (water-vapor) out without letting water in
  • Entire boot is lined with 400g of KeenWarm synthetic insulation to keep your toes, foot, ankle, and calf ultra warm in biting cold temperatures
  • Thermal Heat Shield footbed reflects heat back to your body to better retain warmth
  • Injection-molded EVA midsole provides a comfortable cushion for walking over uneven and icy ground
  • Dual Climate Rubber outsole hardens in cold weather to bite into packed snow and wraps up over the boot’s toe box for added protection

Bottom Line: Alaska-tested. Enough said.

Darn good

I echo all the other reviewer's positive comments. My only complaints, having ordered these boots online, is that yes, they run small even compared to another pair of Keen boots I had, the thick faux-fur cuffs prohibit day-to-day pants from falling to the ankle (although in snow I usually tuck pants inside the boot anyway), and the lacing system makes it touch to tighten the boot just around the ankle for longer hikes/walks. (I just end up strangling my calves). This problem also results in a little bit of the saggy/baggy ankle look.

My previous pair of shorter keen boots were a bit easier in terms of slipping them on under pants, but these boots are nice and durable and decently warm for short stints outside. (not standing around though, at least below freezing).

fantastic

These boots are great. I bought them at the same time as a pair of Sorel's Cate the Great's and after wearing one boot on each foot for about five minutes, there was no question which pair I'd be keeping. The Keens were significantly warmer. The Sorels are rated at -25F, so the Keens are probably much lower. Also the Sorels seemed quite cheap in comparison (and they're $20 more expensive!). These do look a bit lumberjack-y on the site, but once you put them on, they're adorable. Also, they have the characteristic sturdiness you expect from Keen. With the protected toe, sure-footed soles, waterproof nubuck upper, and overall exceptional quality that comes when you buy a pair of Keens, I cannot recommend a better shoe brand to anyone.

Love them!

These are really great boots. High enough to keep the snow out and cute enough to wear around town. They are very tough and durable. They do run small to size, like most Keens. I ordered a full size larger than normal but I'm ok with that and they are very comfortable.

great boots

These boots were very stiff when I first tried them on; I had to break them in for a week before they felt comfortable. Each boot weighs over a pound each, so I had to adjust to the extra weight, especially while driving. They seem indestructible and I'm expecting them to last me for many years. I'm not afraid to face the snow anymore, though; they are the warmest boots I have ever worn!
