Dew-soaked trails and meadows are now fair game thanks to the KEEN Women's Alamosa WP Hiking Shoe and its waterproof membrane that keeps out the blister-breeding moisture. Mud puddles and wet grass can ruin a long hike, but the Alamosa's KEEN.Dry membrane stops the water from getting inside and wreaking havoc on your sensitive skin. With the help of mesh panels on the upper, the membrane also lets your foot breathe to make sure your toes stay cool and fresh.

  • A tough leather upper increases waterproofing and withstands many seasons of abuse on rocky trails
  • EVA and PU foam in the footbed and midsole absorb shocks and help cushion your foot from rocky, uneven trails
  • The removable EVA footbed and heel insert let you customize the cushioning to match your needs and foot shape
  • A TPU shank provides lateral (side-to-side) and torsional (twisting) stability while you rock hop over mountain streams
  • Outsole incorporates several multi-directional lugs that dig into mud and slick surfaces so you can hike without slipping into a cold creek

Keen on Keens

I've worn Keen sandals for years (from when they first came out for sailing), but these are my first hiking shoes from Keen. I was a bit hesitant with sizing a 1/2 size up (because the sandals are always true to size), but I'm glad that I did. They performed great on muddy and snow covered approaches to the crag and kept my feet nice and dry. Also, I felt sure-footed while scrambling over some tali at the crag base. However, I can't comment on their performance and lasting comfort on long hikes.

    Very comfortable

I have only worn these out doing errands so far but they are super comfortable and I love them. We are travelling to Scotland in May and I bought these for a light hiking shoe so I don't have to travel with boots. I am very happy so far but have yet to test them on the trail!

All the Keen shoe's I've bought have been true to size. Why does this run small? Aren't they all built on the same last?

      Hey Sharon,
It runs small for two reasons.
One, this has KEEN dry in it, when this is used there is less room due to the foam layer that protects the membrane.
Two, KEEN made the Alamosa with less volume across the top in the forefoot of the shoe for higher performance when fast hiking.

Does this Keen run true to size, or do you have to order up or down a size? Travelling to Bhutan in December, and looking for the perfect shoe....

I am struggling to find a woman's KEEN...

I am struggling to find a woman's KEEN hiking shoe that fits. I bought the Targhee II in a 9.5 but my heal slips. Any suggestions?

Do you still have the Targhee's? If you do, you will find if you compress the heel on the shoe to make it narrower works and also on the Targhee there is a heel strap that will tighten the heel. How you use it is to tighten the laces more than you normally do until the shoe breaks in.
This tends to solve the heel slip problem in one or two times of wearing it.
