They changed these, and not for the good

  • Gender: Female

I ordered these shoes for my son. They came and when my son tried them on we discovered that they had an odd ridge running down both sides of the tongue. They were so uncomfortable that he couldn't even keep them on long enough to stand up in them. Backcountry was awesome and they immediately shipped us another pair to try. The second pair has the same issue. The odd thing is that he has this same brand/style of shoe from last year that does not have this issue. My son loves his old shoes so much that I deliberately went looking for the identical shoe since his are almost too small now. Backcountry tells me that there has been a change to the style of the tongue but I spoke to a customer service rep from Keen who INSISTS that they have not changed ANYTHING about the shoe other than what colors it comes in. I am attaching a picture of the inside of the shoe. Those whitish colored loop looking things under the tongue are the top edge of a loop of excess tongue that runs down the sides of the tongue from there. Very uncomfortable and a very poor change in design or material or whatever has caused this year's model to have this problem when last year's model did not have this. Now I am stuck searching for a different shoe for my son. :(

I am giving this shoe 1 star because it was so bad my son couldn't even keep it on long enough to see if it fit or if it was comfortable to walk in.

Keen - please go back to last year's design!!! Last year's shoe would get 5+++ stars.
