Description

Easy on, and easy trodding on the trail for kids.

Keen kept things simple and comfortable with the Kids' Alamosa Hiking Shoe. Water-resistant leather protects your young one's feet on the trail, and the Secure Fit drawcord lacing means less fitting hassle and more fun. Just think: no more untied shoes or sloppy-fit kicks that result in big, painful blisters for your child. Mesh fabric built into the upper helps to keep things cool on hot days, and when the trail gets steep, the treaded rubber outsole means plenty of traction.

I have three very rough and tumble boys and we blow through shoes around here. I started buying Keen's for them a few years ago because of the rubber toe guard. This not only provides extra protection, but all slows down the rate of wear when my kids inevitably use their shoes as bike brakes. I bought this particular model for my 7 year-old six months ago and they're still going strong. We always outgrow our Keen's before we wear them out.

We bought this model for all 3 of our kids, two at Backcountry and the third at a different store. Two of the 3 pairs have blown out, leather has separated from the sole, on the front corners near the toe area. One after 11 months use, the other after a months use. Thankfully Backcountry has a great return policy and will handle the warranty issues for use. We will be trying a new model, hopefully with better results.

Follow-up to this review. Another pair that we bought to replace the pair that lasted a month has started to fall apart and it hasn't been quite a month on those yet.
