Scalp and face shade without hot, stuffy cotton fabric.

The sun beats down on your summer hike and you want to shade your face and scalp, but not at the expense of melting your brain. Thanks to lightweight nylon and webbing on the Kavu Synthetic Strapcap, you get face shade without an overheated head. Black coloring underneath the Synthetic Strapcap's bill reduces glare, while the fabric dries quickly after a light rain shower. Webbing varies on each hat.

Kavu strapcap will get you laid

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium

I don't normally wear hats since I have long hair, but I wanted something lightweight and breathable (why do hats always make your head HOTTER?) that was durable for camping and climbing and had that outdoorsy look. I ordered black and my band was a cool blue and white design (it seems it's luck of the draw what type of band you get as mine is a different color than the picture, still looks awesome tho). When my GF saw me in the hat she asked if I could take everything but it off..... So if that interests you I'd get this hat. My only gripe is that there isn't a little hole to tuck the tightening strap when it's long, so it either hangs down or you have to tuck it in.

    Cool Hat for Hot Days!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I picked up the Strapcap in the Pyrite color. The material on the hat is lightweight, water-wicking, and durable. Already battle tested with some rain and it kept my head nice and dry. The material is thin which makes it a great lid for warm days. The bill design is long enough to keep the sun out of your eyes for lots of hours in the day. Not exactly a hat I would wear casually but if it's anything from hiking, fishing, or climbing; you can bet what will be on my cabeza!

    Cool Lid

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I really like this hht and cannot wait to put it through the ringer once the spring comes. My only complaint is that the front headband folds when you put it on, sometimes. It would not hep me from getting this hat. I am already thinking of getting the camo color.

    Lightweight cap

Great cap. The material is lightweight and very tough. The brim is sturdy and the whole thing packs very small. This is the second Kavu cap I've purchased; I bought the "strapcap" (with side mesh) eight years back and it is still in great shape. I hike and run in SoCal/Arizona and these are perfect.

    Nice, but...

...I was looking for something to REALLY keep the sun off my head for an upcoming venture into Malaysia and Thailand. The brim wasn't as lage as I expected, although the black underside is a nice feature. It sort of fit my head like a glove. (???) I think it would be a great hat for running and jogging in, because it sure is lightweight enough to expel the heat. As for me though, I'm going back to the well for another choice...

      Kavu Synthetic Strapcap

I got the Kavu Synthetic Strapcap to prevent hairline sunburn on my daytime climbing and hiking adventures. It's a great hat! I got the medium and it is perfect. It's light and comfortable, and it dries super fast. I like the adjustable strap in the back, and you can slip a ponytail through it easily. It's a 10!

        Slippery good.

Great hat. Love the color. Rain and salt water bead up and fall away. Dries fast. Great big brim keeps sun out of eyes. Easy to adjust size.
But, the inside head band is a bit too slippery for my hair, and the hat slides up a bit. But then, maybe it's my hair that's slippery. This isn't a cheap hat, but it worth paying a little extra for it.

What kind of material is it made of? I'm interested in a baseball style rain hat for ocean kayaking. If it's really raining hard I'd put my rain jacket hood over it. Quick drying would be good. Is this my hat?
