Great Urban Khakis

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I love these for wearing around town. The fabric is tough and burly, and the construction seems good, so I expect these to last for quite a while. They look great for going to work or going out, and the front left upper thigh pocket is the most convenient cell phone pocket I've ever seen pants to have. They're cut a little tight around the thigh (which, as a skinny guy 6'/155 lbs, I appreciate) but open up a little at the bottom like boot cuts. Great for wearing over either hiking or western style boots.

That being said . . . they're not outdoors pants. They're tough, but they're also heavy, they have zero water resistance, and aren't made of a fabric that stretches or sheds stains particularly easily. I highly, HIGHLY recommend these for urban use and am giving them a five star rating because I love them, but if you're looking for non-shell trail pants the Prana Stretch Zion or OR Ferrosi (both also awesome pants) are both lighter, water resistant, and stretchy.

Outside TV "Branded" : Kavu

Kavu understands the needs of their customers because they get out and do the same thing: play hard, get dirty, and have fun doing it. This has allowed them to create functional and durable clothing without sacrificing fashion.

No flexibility - immediately returned

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

Nice fabric and pockets. I would have liked to keep them but the narrow hip and thighs remove any potential for practical outdoor use. I'm 6' and a bit under 200 lbs, not stocky. These weren't tight at the waist but the fit from mid-hip to mid-thigh was skin tight. Low and oddly cut crotch limited the range of movement. Going up a size would have made the pants swim at the waist. Just a strange cut NOT a "regular" fit as described.

A great fit

Right out of the packaging, this pair was a great fit for me. I have longer legs, so the slim construction is exactly what I need in a good pair of hiking pants. While the material feels durable, these pants are not hard to move your legs in for those long treks through the woods. Overall, a great product; highly recommended.

Great Pants, weird fit

I'm 6'6" and 210 - proportional frame. I bought these on SAC with the intention of using them for camping/climbing. The fabric is tough and has stood up well so far. But the fit is odd.... The crotch is quite low - so unless I hike the pants WAY up (waist band to above my naval), I don't have any flexibility in my thighs/hips (required for climbing, desirable for hiking/camping). These have become just around town pants as I can't comfortably use them in any activity that requires much flexibility

Any chance these will go back on SAC?

Responded on

Yes, I've seen them on sac at least twice in May 2013.

Any chance more sizes and/or styles will be stocked in these pants anytime soon?

Great Pants

I agree with pretty much everything in Eric Kennedy's review. I got these on a 60% off sale and couldn't be happier. My size is only avalaible in Khaki otherwise I would buy more pairs. The pants seem to be of very good construction, and are designed for a slimmer fit. As was mentioned they run just slightly on the smaller side so don't size up. I am a thin guy at 5'10" 155 lbs and always have a really hard time with pants looking too baggy- not these. They fit perfect and even got a compliment on how good my posterior looks. They are great for a day in the woods or even for putting on a nice shirt and going out.

Pretty Nice Pants

Picked these up on SAC & like them pretty well. They have an interesting cut, seem to be designed to sit lower on the hips with a mostly straight-legged cut that's a tad skinnier in the legs than most pants I have. Not cut very generous in the rear end department which is fine for me because I have very little junk in my trunk. The waist sizing is accurate if not a little roomy, no need to size up. Plenty long for their waist size, actually just a tad longer than I'd hoped but they work. Construction seems very good & they are comfy. All in all I like 'em and got them for a price that was too good to pass up. If you like pants that sit low with a less roomy (but not full on skinny) fit in the legs then these ought to work.
