Some restating of what others have said. I'm almost the definition of M (in my mind); 32 " waist, 30" inseam, big thighs and butt. I got the small, it fits very well. Yes the back pockets look weird, but 1) my wife likes them 2) I can move the wallet around so I'm not perched on it while driving. I find them to be very soft and yet strong, and they have taken over from my similar Cloudveil pants. Overall, pretty darn happy although I haven't yet had the crotch splitting that others have noted.
Wearing them right now

Good, solid work pants. The material is nice and thick, great for work or outside fun. The gusseted crotch allows for better ease of movement. The only issue I have is that the rise seems to be a little short. I'm not a plumber but these pants seem to think I am if you know what I mean. Overall, pretty nice.

I have worm chilliwacks for over a decade, they are my favorite pants by far, there have been some changes in the cloth, originally they were a heavy duck canvas, now the cloth seems to be softer. If you like pants that are already broken in, then the new cloth will feel nice right out of the box. The weak link in the pants is the crotch, you need to be sure and not hike in them with a wet crotch or they will wear out quicker. They can be patched easilly enough. These pants are apparently being discontinued, which is really sad because I have never found a pant that fits so well. I have a 35" waist and a 33" inseam, the XL fits me baggy with a nice shoe top length. I still have my original pair, dark green, they are faded to a pale green now, thread worn, patched in the crotch, legs, hems, I only take them out for special occassions, I don't think I'll ever throw them out :)

These are awesome pants. Extremely comfortable and durable. Back pockets are a little funky, but you get used to them.
Not a fan of the custom crotch venting either

When I bought these I was pretty stoked. The canvass material is surprisingly stout for a $35 pant off S&C. Also happy with the brown bear color. However, the honeymoon was over real quick.I bought these in a large, which fits well length-wise, but the waist is quite a bit too large. Usually this can be remedied with a nice sturdy belt, however this pant is totally incompatible with belts, and its reliance on the thin and plastic buckled contraption it has around the waist is an inadequate measure to hold up such a heavy pair of pants. This probably would have been less of a problem with a medium.I also had a small hole wear through the crotch within the first couple of days. Not a fan of it.The back pockets look so unnatractive that you wonder how they ever came up with the design. If you like having people gaze at your butt all day- these are your pants- just don't be surprised if their stare turns into a look of empathetic bewilderment.

My first pair of chilliwack pants lasted me about 2 years until my wallet wore a hole through. I patched it, and kept wearing them until the entire seat began to wear through. Considering how much I abused them they held up pretty great. My second pair lasted me a few weeks until the crotch began to loose threads and the hole began to grow. Huge disappointment, quality of pants has declined, hellooooo mountain khakis
Good Fit, Great Price

I bought my pair of XL Chilliwacks on SAC, and couldn't be happier. I wear 38x34 normally, and they fit well in both directions, not too short on me. They seem to be well constructed and the material is strong yet comfortable. They are definitely fit for working or hiking through brush, though they are probably too heavy for normal backpacking

I agree with the other... Great pant except for the wallet issue and the length... I can live with the wallet issue. I would buy more if we could get a longer length. Same with the shorts, let's get some length to really make this work....
Good work pant

Nice stylish work pant that is built to take a beating. But, a wallet in the rear pocket is uncomfortable for bar stool surfing and I find the length to be on the short side.
Durable and comfortable

These pants are really comfortable. Thick material and is perfect for doing some good ol' fashion manual labor in. I agree that they are a bit baggy. I usually wear a 33" waist so I got a medium and the pants would be falling off me if it wasn't for the belt.
My crotch was nice and secure.

I like these pants. I am not so sure about Caleb's problem, in the above review, but they have held up in the crotch region just fine. The pants are nice and thick and could be used to complete any sort of hardware need. The half in belt is rather sharp too. I like this feature that many Kavu pants have. My only gripe is that they are a little on the baggy side. Other than that, great pants for any activity.
Built tough except for the crotch

I didn't notice it when I got the pants but after a few days (literally 3 days), a small hole had developed in the crotch. I wasn't doing anything that would have caused this so it was quite surprising. A friend of mine who works at an outfitter told me that he had a pair do that to him as well. Still not sure what caused it, but other than that hole these pants are great.
