Toss your wimpy fleece jacket in the garbage and get something with some cojones—the Kavu Men's Blender Jacket. Kavu used Glacier fleece (Sherpa fleece bonded to velour polyester fleece) to make this jacket super warm. They also covered all possible abrasion points with Force 10 canvas so this work jacket can take a beating. Kavu washed the Blender heavily for a rugged look.
Bottom Line: Get beefed up with warmth and durability in the Kavu Blender Fleece Jacket.
This jacket looks nice but is pretty bulky around the shoulders. Im 6' 4" and i got a large and there was still soem extra room on the arms and it sat somewhat square on my shoulders. Its wayy comfy on the inside and is very heavy and warm. Doesnt block wind though. I did return it but if i had the extra money i would have kept it...
Just got the black version and love it. I always have a hard time with sizes being between L and M (5'10" 155lbs) so went with M based on reviews and it fits perfect with a light layer underneath. When i wear it to keep warm on the way into the gym and have only a T shirt on its a little big. I wish the pockets had a slightly bigger opening so the cuff would fit inside, but other than that its great. Have received quite a few compliments on it.
I'm curious as to how breathable this jacket is? Also, how does/will it stand up to some rain? Is it so warm that I am only limited to wearing it in cold weather? Thanks for the help.

I bought this jacket in a Medium, but had to send it back because it practically swallowed me. It's very roomy especially in the shoulder/chest/upper arm area. It is a very nice jacket, very warm, and nice looking. I wouldn't recommend it for a casual jacket to just wear out, like many people buy fleeces for. It's definitely a serious gear jacket for cold weather.
Yes I believe it is, the outer layer is the fluffy fleece you see in the picture, the inside is the more smooth, or micro type fleece. Also the arms have like a slick material so your shirt cuffs don't get jammed up your arms (very nice feature). There is also an inner fleece cuff near the wrist to keep those drafts out. Having visited Santa Cruz quite a bit it should keep you warm all winter, but wont do anything for rain. Hope that helps.
It definitely feels great and fits nice. Kavu seems to be very consistent as far as quality goes. Nice and warm. My neighbor told me I look very "cuddable" and my wife warned him off. My kids like to snuggle up next to me when it's on. My sister told me I look like Fozzy Bear. I have the XL size so maybe it's the shear volume of fuzzy fleece coming at you. I bought the brown - I think it's a choice between the brown bear look or the black bear. Overall - great jacket.
Bought this coat for my husband on SAC a few months ago. We both love it. He is tall and thin (5'11", 160) and has very long arms and the M fit is perfect on him. He says it is warm and breaks the wind (he wears it casually in Golden/Boulder, CO). It looks cool - I think he looks totally HOT in it - the square-ish shoulders are nice and do give it an athletic look - IMHO. Bought a L first, and it WAS too boxy, but we are keeping it to give to his brother for Xmas. Knowing what we know, we'd pay full price for both of these!
I bought this several months ago and the zipper came unstitched. This site immediately replaced it, which really pleased me since this is a great jacket and actually very well designed and made. Since it is long enough not to ride up it would be nice if Kavu had used a two-way zipper. It is sized accurately.
Really wanted to like this jacket fashion alternative to other popular "shag" fleeces, such as the Patagonia Retro-X, but was really disappointed and returned it.
First, there are weird snow-guard type sleeve liners near the wrist, which I found really unnecessary and uncomfortable.
Second, I'm pretty slender (5'10'' 150lbs) and the jacket made me look like a linebacker. The stiff shoulders made the jacket look padded and really un-athletic and un-flattering.
All in all, I was expecting a burly bang-around winter fleece, and instead got a very bulky, heavy, and weirdly spec-ed out coat.
Bought it on SAC for $39.00. The jacket is super warm. We got our first snow in Burlington, Vt today and I wore it with no layers on underneath and I was plenty warm. It does feel very roomy (I am 6'2 220 and bought the XL) I am planning on layering with it this winter but I am thinking that a large might have fit as well. It is a bit long in the torso and sleeves. The only thing that is odd that when it is zipped all the way closed the neck feels a little weird. But I think that this jacket is already a favorite. I really like the material. I say buy it.
this was a sweet purchase. its extremely comfy with the fleece lining and its got gnarly looking exterior. the fit is a little bulky but overall a great looking jacket that i highly recommend
I love the Kavu Blender Fleece jacket...it is warm and fights the wind a good little bit. I live in upstate SC so it's perfect for those gusts of wind but I would suggest something a little more if you need protection from chicago winds. The only misconception that I have noticed is that the uper sleeves are a little big on me....they look as though they are made for someone who has huge muscles/arms whereas I do not. But I still love the jacket and its fuzzy look.
