Description

While all water filters may look similar, field performance varies dramatically. The Katadyn Guide is a great choice for easy operation in remote situations.

The Katadyn Guide Water Filter meets industry standards for the reduction of bacteria and Giardia from wilderness or Third World water sources leaving behind pure, great tasting water. Now with a 50 micron filter membrane, particles larger than 50 microns cannot enter the water system. Its high-efficiency design means more water with less effort. An ideal base camp microfilter, the smooth action pump makes it easy to fill even large water containers, especially with the included hydration pack adaptor. 36-inch long hoses make it easy to reach your container and the water source. The AnitClog Pleated Cartridge has over 140 square inches of filter surface area and is guaranteed not to clog for one year. The carbon filter-core reduces unpleasant taste and odors from your treated water.

Write your question here...Someone just gave me a PUR Guide water filter which looks exactly like the Katadyn Guide filter. I assume that this is an older model. I'm looking for a manual and want to know if the replacement filter for both units are the same. I has never been used and appears in very good condition.

I believe you are right and it is an older model. You can always send it back if it is wrong

Works flawlessly with my Guide filter.

Get this once your filtering gets slow.

We used a friend's last summer, in a group of 4. It simply kicked butt. This filter cranks out so fast with little handle pressure. I have a Hiker (also had the older PUR Hiker) and I'm getting a Guide Pro because: The Guide pumps 1.5 liters pm while the hiker does 1 lpm (50% FASTER!). The Guide needs way less handle pressure than the Hiker. The Hiker is better than any MSR I've used and the Guide is so much better than the Hiker. Small negative is you gain 3 oz (11 vs 14) with the Guide. I'll carry the 3 oz extra any day when faced with 8 or more Nalgenes and a camp bladder bag to fill up. Best filter yet!

This filter is easy to use and fix. I broke mine in the backcountry and was able to fix it. It still worked very efficiently and effectively.

I've had this for awhile and just recently used it for the first time. It works great and fills up a big nalgene really quickly. wish it was a bit smaller but oh well.

This filter works great. Was able to pump out 5 liters of water in a matter of minutes. Hands down, blew the MSR filter we "tried" to use last year away. Water tasted great, and the Nalgene bottle connection output piece is great. Note: Nalgene adapter does not work with the new Eddie Bauwer Nalgene bottle (the top is to big to screw into the adapter).

This filter is great, it pumps a ton of water fast, and is simple and small enough to take backpacking or where ever. I have started taking this just in case when I am on long bike rides or hikes so that I don't have to pack as much water and I can still drink as much as I need.

I used the filter this last weekend as a backup water supplier. Unfortunately, our GPS unit failed and we got lost in Southern Utah. This filter saved us. We were in a little slot canyon in Escalante and got a little nervous when our water ran out. The only water we could find was in cesspools that wreaked and were covered in a nasty little film and filled with bugs. Of course, the water didn't taste great, but none of us ended up getting sick. I was very pleased with it. Plus, the Nalgene attachment is kinda cool and convenient. It pumps water pretty efficiently as long as you clean it after every use. Oh, and it's way simple to clean. I couldn't have asked for more.
