The Katadyn Guide Replacement Cartridge is the replacement element for the Katadyn Guide Water Filter. It now comes with a 50 micron membrane to filter out particles larger than 50 microns. It's always a good idea to pack a second element when you head to the backcountry.

Works Great for lots of Hikers

Have used this filter with our Venture Crew (10 - 12 people) on 2 multiday hikes. Just returned from the first 20 miles of the A.T. in Georgia. This filter is great. It is quick, pumps lots of good clean water, and has filled everyone's nalgenes and camelbaks repeatedly. Great product!

    cool,cool water

used it for five weeks traveling form Banff to the Arctic Circle, by way of the Dempster, back down and over to Alaska, then back east. The ONLY thing that slowed it down was water we pumped from an old well that clogged the sediment cover....a quick wash and back to normal....just now thinking of a replacement filter

Use only in crystal clear water!

I used my Guide filter, with the prescreening kit, on a recent trip. My hiking partner had his MSR Miniworks. My filter clogged and was reduced to a trickle after only 8 liters of pumping. Thank goodness we had the miniworks which was field maintainable! This filter is good for crystal clear water only.

I just came back from a 50 mile back country hike on the AT. On the third day my unit developed what seemed to be an air lock which I fixed by priming it. On the fourth day, it just quit and would only spit clean water. Will replacing the filter fix this or is it a pump issue?

I have a Pur scout filter and recently ordered a replacement cartridge (Katadyn Guide filter) and have noticed that it filters 50 microns and higher. I thought my original filter was somewhere around 5-10 microns. Is 50 microns small enough to filter out giradia and cryptosporidium?

Does anyone know if it fits teh older Pur filters? Mine is gray and blue with the intake and output hoses both comming out the bottom.
