Description

The weapon of choice for Kastle freeride athletes.

The Kastle BMX108 Ski is the ski of choice for Kastle pro athletes competing in the Freeride World Tour. The early-rise rockered tip allows the ski to execute flawlessly at high speeds in the powder while low camber underfoot provides edge grip and control in variable snow conditions. Kastle's signature Hollowtech tip and tail significantly reduce swing weight for nimble responsiveness and increased shock absorption. There is a reason that this is the top-tier backcountry ski ridden by the Kastle pros—it's time you joined them.

  • Early-rise rockered tip and low camber underfoot provide hook-free flotation in the powder and stability on the hardpack
  • A full wood core of beech and poplar offers optimal performance and vibration dampening
  • A rubber layer serves to further absorb shock and vibration for an extra smooth ride
  • Tested and proven sandwich construction provides high-end performance and durability
  • ABS sidewalls are durable and reduce shock, which lessens the chances of edge damage
  • Dual Hollowtech technology removes an oval-shaped section of material from the tip and tail and leaves only an opaque sheet of fiberglass, which reduces weight by 15% for faster spins, improved edge tracking, and a smooth ride
  • 108mm underfoot makes this fat powder ski an off-piste machine
  • A moderate sidecut allows the BMX108 to thrive off-piste and handle high speeds on the groomers

I really want to get these skis! What I can't decide on is the size. I'm pretty big, 6'4" 220, advanced skier with solid technique (not pro level by any means). Since I'd like to take advantage of the off-season pricing and I don't live near a place that demos Kaestle's, so demoing's out of the question (I know, not the best way to purchase). Typically, I prefer skis 190+, but I've heard the 195 for this ski is strictly the pro model. So I guess I'm asking anyone with any knowledge about the ski, what do you think? Shoud I go 195 or the 188? Thanks in advance!

I would go with whatever is closer to what you normally get because backcountry has an unconditional return policy. So if you decide to go with a shorter or longer length, than you can easily exchange or return them for a full refund.

I am 5' 7" and just demoed these in the 188. They were awesome! I tested them on groomers, bumps, trees, with no problems, but didn't really get into any pow. I am looking for a new, stiffer and longer ski than my current 175 JJs. My question is: will these be too much ski in the big mountain? I ripped around the inbounds, but am a bit concerned with the OB. Thanks!

Pickettz - this ski is built for big mountain riding. If you liked them in the bumps and trees, you liked them in probably their least favorable setting, I think you'll love them in conditions where you can open them up and let them run.

With it?s early rise tip and hook-free shovel, this is my go to ski for 90% of the days I?m out there. Whether it?s ripping big, open faces in AK or dropping into Granite off the backside of Jackson Hole, this ski handles it all. At 108 under foot, I feel confident in deep powder, yet it still responds like you?d expect off of bigger drops. While super-fat might look good in the tramline, there?s a point where the width of a ski becomes counter-productive for bigger airs. For me, the BMX 108 strikes the perfect balance between float and stompability.
