Adjustable declination on the Kasper and Richter Horizon Map Compass eliminates the need for tedious math and manual adjustments for each measurement you make, while the integrated clinometer lets you measure the degree of the slope for safe ski touring. The Horizon Map Compass' thermo-elastic, fluid-filled capsule helps prevent bubbles and cracks when the temperature changes or you accidentally drop the compass. A luminescent bezel and navigation points make for easy-on-the-eyes readings. Cut-outs allow for map marking, while an internal compass card provides one-degree resolution.

Bottom Line: Summer- and winter-worthy.

My daughter needs a compass for an adventure race. It states

My daughter needs a compass for an adventure race. It states to have an automatic declination adjustment. Does this compass have this feature? Is there a different in saying there is a declination adjustment vs an automatic declination adjustment? Thanks

It has adjustable declination, but it's not automatic. That means she'll have to know how to adjust it herself or her readings won't work.
