The upper mixes open air mesh and synthetic suede for a breathable, slightly supportive top. The heel counter wraps all the way around your heel, essentially connecting the overlays, and starts to moderate your foot motion from the instant your heel hits the ground. Chasing down your four-legged escape artist tends to get you hot under the collar, but the collar lining on the Steady3 sucks up your ankle sweat so you stay cool and chafe-free. The EVA insole offers some cushioning and can be replaced with your custom inserts.
Injection-molded EVA makes the midsole a marvelous blend of softness and spring. The Asymmetrical Fulcrum uses relatively stiff compression-molded EVA to accomplish two discrete but related goals: first, the off-set fulcrum moderates your foot's motion to reduce injury risk and economize your steps, and second, the fulcrum helps smooth your gait cycle to exploit energy usage so you can go longer without additional effort. The dual approach to rubber on the bottom gives the Steady3 longevity and stellar shock absorption.
