The one that started it all.

Look, it's not that there's anything wrong with the bindings you have, they're probably just fine—for the resort. But when you head out into the backcountry, nothing compares with the Karakoram Split 30 Snowboard Binding, which makes it easier than ever to climb to the top, and once you're there it provides unprecedented control and confidence that will change the way you ride in the backcountry.

It's designed strictly for splitboarding and works exclusively with Karakoram's clips and system for seamless performance. The lightweight baseplate connects to the board in ride mode through five attachment points to create a stiff connection and eliminate chatter and slop in the seam. This allows your board to ride like a solid setup so you can tap into terrain once thought too gnarly for shaky splitboards. Thanks to the separated plates on the ride mode interface and an open binding chassis, you can actually feel your board's torsional flex beneath your feet, offering vast improvements in control and precision over traditional systems.

Not only does the seamless design improve riding performance, but it also makes changing over from tour to ride mode and back insanely quick and easy. Instead of dealing with finicky pins and stubborn plates, the Split 30 clips in to tour mode via freely-rotating axles that are integrated into the baseplate so you never have to worry about losing parts at the top. When you're ready to ride down, just snap down the quick-release lever and the binding is locked into place. This same lever also allows you to lock your heel down in touring mode for icy traverses and long skates.

What do you think about this product?

    Have questions about this product?

    Great Product, Great Company!

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I jumped on the Karakoram bandwagon early and have seen their company drive innovation further and further, and look forward to seeing what they come up with next.

I would recommend any karakoram product to friends!

the leader, but for how long?

    • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I think this is the easiest system to use because there aren't too many moving parts and as long as you get the residue and ice off at the top, it's an easy and quick conversion back to your board for riding downhill. Crampons are definitely needed in steeper, and icier conditions, unless you have the time and energy to zig-zag uphill (slowly). There is one other system that I discovered in Colorado that could possibly overtake this one as the easiest and quickest change, but we're probably a good 2 years from that?as split boarding is not really that popular.

    Light AF

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

the bindings themselves feel very secure and stiff, Hands-down the stiffest binding i have ridden to date. Not only are the bindings durable but they are also insanely light! The initial set up is key, I found that when setting your binding in ride mode you want the base plate of your binding to just barely touch the hardware on the heel side. If it rubs too much on the hardware it will be a nightmare to try to lock down while you're out touring. trust me!the hardware on the karakorams are snow magnets! be prepared on any given day to have snow build up on every baby part of the hardware..The aluminum material seems to attract snow like no other. Having an old tooth brush or wire brush is absolutely key when putting your board back together. The heel lock down mecanism is an awesome concept. But still after so many days on them i cannot seem to lock my heel down in a convenient fashion. I've always had to stop and unstrap

I have a Voile board, is it easy to change out to this binding.

What is the difference between the Karakoram Split 30 and the Karakoram Prime 1 bindings?

    Cody,

The Split30 is going to be the prior system that Karakoram came out with that has the mechanism to lock the binding in place along the side of the binding.

The Prime1's are the new system where the locking mechanism is at your heel. This is great for when you're skiing. The extra width on the Split30 can create issues along the outside of the binding...say when traversing a slope and the tab hits ice or snow, etc.

Plus the Split30's are a stiff binding and the Prime1's are a medium flex. So different system and slightly different riding style in mind.

Shoot me an email anytime you have questions!

Do these come with all mounting hardware or do I have to buy the interface kit as well

Does come with plates and all the necessary hardware to mount to a Jones Solution?
