Turns out old dogs are pretty killer at new tricks.

K2's been making skis for over fifty years, but it hadn't built a pair of boots until last season. Instead of re-hashing old designs and improving on what was already available, K2 set out to built a line of boots from the ground up. The end result is a line of boots tailored to meet the demands of today's skiers, with modern designs that put an emphasis on performance and don't discount comfort. Being the stiffest and narrowest all-mountain offering in K2's impressive lineup, the Men's Spyne 130 LV Ski Boot is a good match for the hard-charging expert that demands a stiff and responsive feel from their boots and prefers a damn narrow (97mm) last.

The Spyne incorporates much of what you'd expect to find on a high-end boot: four micro-adjustable buckles, a cinchable power strap, adjustable canting, and an adjustable forward lean, but what really sets the boot apart is K2's E3 design philosophy. E3 employs a carbon-infused spine that runs down the back of the cuff to the heel of the shell to add an extra bit of rigidity to the boot; the carbon spine allows for less material to be used in the shell and cuff, resulting in a lighter boot that's also easier to work with in the shop. In addition to the Powerfuse Spyne, K2 also developed a connection between the shell and cuff by eliminating the use of rivets. The interlocking connection not only allows the boot to flex forward more naturally, but it puts less stress on the rest of the boot and offers a smoother ride as a result, so you can hammer through chop and feel as smooth as if you're surfing pristine pow.
