    Power to the paddle-footed few.

You can't help it that you have wide feet, but you still like to crush the whole mountain just the same, so before you go cramming those flippers of yours into a pair of narrow 97mm lasted boots, know that K2 is offering its top-of-the-line Men's Spyne 130 Ski Boot in a high volume option (HV) with a luxuriously wide 102mm last. This version of the Spyne may fit wide, but it's still a stiff and powerful boot with all the hard-charging features you'd expect from a boot designed by a company with the accolades of K2.

The Spyne incorporates much of the same technologies you'd expect to find on a high-end boot: four micro-adjustable buckles, a cinchable power strap, adjustable canting, and an adjustable forward lean, but where the Spyne really differs is with what K2 calls its E3 design philosophy. The E3 design philosophy combines a carbon-infused spine that runs down the back of the cuff to the heel of the shell to add an extra bit of rigidity to the boot—the carbon spine allows for less material to be used in the shell and cuff, resulting in a lighter boot that's also easier to work with in the shop. In addition to the Powerfuse Spyne, K2 also developed a connection between the shell and cuff by eliminating the use of rivets. The interlocking connection not only allows the boot to flex forward more naturally, but it puts less stress on the rest of the boot and offers a smoother ride as a result.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I finally bought a season pass after 4 years of only skiing in the backcountry. Needed a stiff alpine boot and found K2's Spyne. They just started making boots a few years ago from the ground up and they knocked it out of the park. I went all in on this boot and use it as my daily driver in bounds and can even tour in it a little bit. No walk mode but, I just open up the buckles and it provides some room to articulate my ankle to skin with.

The 130 flex is legit, its a stiff boot with amazing power transfer, noticeably better than some other boots specifically in the cuff. Please contact me if you want to compare this boot's flex with other boots out there. I have demoed a lot of other boots and have some comparison's based on a run or two.

Comes with an Intuition Liner which makes the boot comfortable and warmer than a boot that only has a stock liner. A lot of companies try to make good liners but, Intuition does it best in my opinion.

This boot was created with a boot fitter in mind so I went with the LV (LV = 97mm last, HV = 102mm last). I have a skinny heel and a wide forefoot. I needed something to fit the heel which is a 97mm last then I paid to get a boot fitter to punch out the big and pinky toe to fit my wider foot. They make this same boot in a few different volumes and feel free to contact me if you have any questions on which one is right for you.
