    Featherweight performance for backcountry exploration.

Go beyond merely earning your turns and enjoy the entire experience, from skinning up to ripping down, with the lightweight, pow-surfing performance of the K2 Ultra Split Splitboard. Claimed to be the lightest splitboard on Earth, the Ultra Split weighs an astounding 3.3-pounds lighter than the industry standard when it's equipped with K2's groundbreaking Kwicker step-in system. In fact, this board forgoes a topsheet altogether to eliminate excess weight for easier skinning.

Made to work with K2's Kwicker Tech (it also works with traditional split interfaces), the Ultra Split delivers a 50% faster transition time when it's equipped with K2's Kwicker step-in bindings. Ultimately, this means less hassle when you're switching from touring to riding mode, allowing for more riding time and no more frozen fingers. Essentially, the K2 Kwicker system is a step-in binding system that eliminates separate bindings and binding plates. All you have to do is simply pop the binding off its hinge (when it's in touring mode), slide it over your pre-mounted pucks, and lock it into place. Voila! You're now ready to step into the binding with your K2 Stark, Compass, or Arrow boots (sold separately).

From steep couloirs to wide open bowls, the Ultra Split is ready for hard-charging backcountry action with its rocker-flat hybrid profile and pow-friendly, directional shape. The board itself is set-back 3/4 of an inch for enhanced float. Combined with the large, spoon-like Tweekend tips and along, rockered nose, this board effortlessly floats through deep powder. Its predominately flat shape extends just past both binding inserts for easier skinning (when compared with fully rockered shapes) and a neutral-feeling ride that grips hardpack and sketchy snow when needed.

Inside the Ultra Split, you'll find an ultra-tough Bambooyah Split core that's made with horizontally laminated bamboo for nearly unbreakable strength and a snappy flex. In addition to the Bambooyah Split core, this board features ICG 20 carbon stringers and a Carbon Web for enhanced response when you're pointing it down sketchy terrain and can't afford to make a wrong move. Rounding out the board's impressive features, the sintered base brings an ultra-fast glide over a wide variety of snow conditions encountered while backcountry riding. Whether you've just completed your first avalanche safety course or you're a certified guide, the Ultra Split delivers the lightweight performance and convenience you want for backcountry exploration.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I owned the non-split Ultra Dream before I picked up the the split and did so cos I absolutely loved it! Not just as a steep and deep charger but as the best all around board I have ever owned.

The best feature that I think this board has is the shape in the nose. It tapers at a slow rate from the contact points to the tip with a reverse side cut. What that helps with is when you are in deep snow turning or traversing, the snow is not fighting to come over top of the nose. It is all being funneled under giving you a stable turn and allowing you to hold more speed.

Cons: This board would have gotten a 5 star review from me if it were not for the K2 skins. I know, and recommend you go with something else. The Z clips were nice but that doesn't matter when the skins cant do what they were meant to do. (go up hill)

Over all a great split that will handle any situation or condition you might run in to.

    G3 Skin Compatibility

Compatibility of this board with G3 skins, here's a photo showing the new tip and tail clips for the G3 Alpinist skins (same as the G3 High Traction skins) interfacing with this K2 board.

Keep in mind these skins were not cut or perfectly adjusted for the length. These photos are just to show the tail and tip clips and how they work with the nose and tail shape on the board.

    G3 Skin Compatibility

What size board do you think is appropriate for a 5'8" 170lb rider? I like short boards for the turning, but I want to make I'll float. Currently ride a NS Heritage 163 in the BC and Libtech TR HP 153 restort.
    Thanks!

I just received an Ultra Split 165 today and need to outfit it with skins/interface/bindings etc. I have heard nothing but bad things about the K2 skins , not to mention they are nearly impossible to find. What skins will fit well on this board and what Voile kit do I need to set up with Voile bindings? Thanks!

what skins will fit this board?

Hi Jared, Thanks for the suggestion, but I have tried G3 and unfortunately with the blunt nose/tail shape the G3 Skins will not work with this board. The old style tail clip can be finagled, but not ideal. The new style tail clip is not at all compatible. The K2 skins are impossible to find...

Do you guys know the weight of the 158cm model?
