    Freestyle flagship.

It's no surprise that the K2 Men's Darko Boa Snowboard Boot is the choice year after year for K2's rail-slaying riders. A versatile medium flex, lightweight feel, and low-key good looks make it a no-brainer for street urchins and park rats alike. But don't think this is some flimsy skate shoe-wannabe either—the Darko isn't afraid to leave the park and ride the rest of the mountain when nature decides to drop the goods.

Designed to be the lightest sole possible, the Street-Lite outsole features blown rubber on the inside for serious weight shavings and cushioning, with a full rubber perimeter to retain durability and traction. It also features Harshmellow dampening to absorb shock from overshot landings and big urban drops. Additional cushioning can be found in the full-length EVA insole, which also helps smooth out the ride in rough terrain.

Traditional lacing allows you to adjust the tightness in specific places so you can get loose for tweaked slides during rail sessions and tighten it up when you're hitting the jump line. The Boa Conda liner lacing system adjusts the liner with a twist of the knob on the outside of the boot to securely lock your foot in place to prevent heel lift and foot fatigue. Moldable J-bars can be customized for further heel hold, and a micro articulating cuff allows the boot to flex naturally. An Intuition Control Foam 3D liner molds to the shape of your foot for a comfy, custom fit, which improves response and board feel by making the boot feel like an extension of your foot.

    Best Boot Design Ever!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have been riding a 2-3 season old version of this boot and also have experience with the K2 T1 boot. Both employ a BOA system for the inner boot with traditional lace for the outer boot. This is the BEST system, allowing you to crank down the inner boot temporarily, making precise lacing of the outer boot easier, then quickly release the tension on the inner boot to a more moderate level to ride.

Going for a steep tight tree line, a couple spins of the BOA wheels firm up the responsiveness nicely, or release the tension completely for a relaxing lift ride up. Very easy, very flexible system, and never have to touch the laces again all day.

The T1 is stiffer than this model, and has a more robust outer boot and sole, a better boot all around, but the Darko is a great deal, and for me riding 30-40 days a year, I get 2-3 seasons out of them before they are too tattered and worn to continue. Just bought a fresh pair this week from

(I gave them 4 stars because the shell material does seem to wear out faster than a synthetic or real leather boot would, but what a great value anyway.)

    Great Boot

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got these for my husband but here's what he had to say in his own words:

I got these in a size 8.5 which is spot on for my normal shoe size as well. These are my first pair of snowboarding boots but from what I can tell so far they're great. I've been using them with some Union Force bindings and they seem like a good match. K2 rates these as a medium flex and I would say that seems accurate. Definitely takes a few times on the mountain to break them in but they just get more and more comfy the more I use them.
