Everybody makes all-mountain bindings. What makes the IPO stand out is its incredible light weight and all-mountain freestyle-friendly mid-soft flex. K2 has also moved the urethane highbacks that it pioneered on freestyle bindings to the IPO.

The biggest advantage of the urethane highback is the amount of soft flex that it allows while maintaining high level of all-mountain support. The urethane is just getting warmed up with a tweak that would snap a normal highback. All of this flexibilty adds comfort, as well. K2's Tweakback AT highback lets you get truly twisted in mid-air and provides all the support you need for serious all-mountain riding. The baseplate is K2's Pro Fection PC, a medium-flexing, lightweight, polycarbonate chassis with on-board Power Ramp adjustments for on-hill tuning. The canted, seamless EVA footbed with Harshmellow shock pads cushions hard landings while compensating for the natural angle of the ankle and foot.

The ultralight Thin Asym ankle strap is made with durable polyurethane laminates. The EZ-Set toe strap is universal and provides top and bottom adjustments for either over the toe or over the foot use. The Ultra Radchet ratchets are equipped with oversized aluminum levers that are extremely durable and easy to use with gloves.

The IPO Binding comes with multi-compatible discs that allow you to use the binding with three- or four-hole systems.

super comfortable

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've used them 5 times now on a salomon villain with Ride RFL boots.

They have a pretty stiff responsive base with a pretty flexible highback. The asymetric heel strap is very very comfortable, more comfortable than the burton cartrel and union SL bindings i have had. It also has a hinge that swings the heel strap away from the binding making it very easy to step into when strapping in. The toe strap works good, and seems very durable. Harshmellow feels like a non-newtonian foam and seems to work well in the base and the heel strap, providing a very smooth ride. the bases don't build up ice.

The only bad thing i can say is that the heel ratchet lever sometimes slips on the ladder ONLY WHEN TIGHTENING, never slips or comes loose during riding. Just the lever bit slips not the part that grabs the ladder. I will probably have to get new ladders at some point this season.

EDIT- About 10 day on them now, this hasn't been a real problem. These are the most comfortable bindings I've ever ridden. I will probably buy another pair for my other board.
