Shovel with Rescue Kit
Not just a shovel, it's a life-saving tool.
The K2 Rescue Shovel converts to a dead man anchor and a flat platform for your stove, and the included Rescue Kit has the hardware you need to fashion an emergency evac sled. K2 designed this versatile tool for backcountry skiers who rely on durability and ultimate utility from every piece of gear in their pack. You'll find other collapsible aluminum avalanche shovels on the market, but few, if any, offer this level of multi-functionality—it's truly greater than the sum of its parts.
Details
- Rescue Kit slides inside the shovel shaft and includes four screws, four wing nuts, and a carry bag with assembly instructions for fashioning an evac sled by attaching your shovel to your K2 BackSide skis
- Lightweight aluminum shaft and blade mean less weight on your back without sacrifice to strength or durability
- Shaft uses a rectangular profile that's super strong and easy to grip when you're chopping or digging
- Extendable shaft operates by unlocking the lower shaft via a small push-button that operates quickly and easily, even with gloves on
- T-Grip handle shape gives you the most secure hold on your shovel and it's a shape that minimizes grip fatigue
- Remove the shovel blade from the shaft and slide onto the long end of the t-grip handle to convert this shovel into a hoe for more efficient, powerful digging
- Rectangular blade shape tapers out at the end and the edge has a wavy shape to provide extra leverage against ice and dense debris
- Blade has small holes that can be used to thread webbing or rope through in order to make a deadman's anchor or rescue sled (with skis)
