Rictor Ski w/ Marker K2/MX 12.0

The K2 Rictor Ski brings on-piste performance with a dose of catch-free forgiveness, thanks to metal laminate construction and All-Terrain Rocker technology. The raised tip makes for easy, predictable turn initiation in variable conditions, while the cambered section underfoot maintains the power and hold you want on hardpack. Integrated K2/Marker bindings put you closer to the edges for exceptional energy transfer.

  • Metal laminate Hybritech construction brings the powerful edge hold of vertical sidewalls and the durable light weight of cap construction
  • All-Terrain Rocker lifts the front 30% of the ski to plane faster, improve turn initiation at slow speeds, and remain stable over changing snow
  • Binding system utilizes 50mm-wide Titanal hubs embedded into the ski for efficient power transfer to the edges
  • Mod Monic technology places a solid zinc mass over dual core layers to provide exceptional vibration dampening

Bottom Line: Take your skiing off the scale.

I am between Advanced and Intermediate in my skiing; weigh approx 175; and am a hair over 5'10" in height. I am trying to decide between the 174 and the 167 Rictor....any thoughts? I spend most of my time on piste/groomers or fresh-packed.

Go for the 174. At your ability and as you become better, you'll be thankful for the longer length which will provide greater flotation and better stability at higher speeds.

Rictor Review

The K2 Rictor is a great ski if you are to be skiing a combination of groomers and packed powder. I have demoed this ski off and on for the last 2 days on the east coast on hard pack man made snow.

The all terrain rocker is great when you have a fresh snow on all the trails from the night before. When it come down to performance on man made pack and groomed snow the ski chatters at high speeds. The ski like most rocker-ed skis will feel like it wants to slide out at the tip when really pushed like a racer.

If you are looking for a ski to ski the groomers 50% and ski the pack powder and fresh powder 50% this is your choice.

If you are a "racer" that skis 90% groomed runs I would stay away from a rocker-ed ski all together.

Pros: Stable at short and long turns, feels light on the feet and easy to hold any turn radius.

Cons: Chatters at high speeds, feels unstable turning at high speeds on hard packed snow.

I compared this ski against the following skis.
Volkl- AC50
Vist- Cross Over Two
Nordica- Fire Arrow 80
Kastle- MX78, MX88, RXSL

My two favorite were the Nordica (soft and playful yet stable at high speeds) and the Vist (an amazing ski that beat out all the others, only can be purchased in the US through a Rep).

What else did you demo it against?

I'm debating between K2 Rictor and Charger & would appreciate any suggetions. I'm upper intermediate PISA 7. 50% groomers with family, 40% moguls, 10% off piste, but in bounds crust.

Live in Europe and demo opportunity unlikely.

Is this ski compatible with the Marker Baron/Duke bindings? I

Is this ski compatible with the Marker Baron/Duke bindings? I am looking for something that I can ski the resort for 75% of my skiing, and short tours/side country 25%. I ski the east between PA and Maine - so I am typically skiing groomers/packed powder most of the time.

No. Not this version anyway. This will only accept the marker/k2 mx 12.0. They do make a flat version where the duke would work.

Terrific skis. Just have to think about turning and they do the rest—no need to try to drive them too hard. Super stable at high speeds on the groomers and fantastic at bustin' the crud. Great planks!

I am looking for a ski to do about 50% piste and 50% off piste

I am looking for a ski to do about 50% piste and 50% off piste with no time in the park. I have a pair of wider skis (line Blends) for powder/ more open skiing, but would like something a little bit more versatile and more friendly for the trees. I would consider myself an upper intermediate to avanced skiier, and am wondering if these would do the job for good control in the tight stuff, and if not some other recommendations. Thanks for your help!

This is the most responsive ski I skied on during the on- snow demo this year. THat being said, I felt that this is a more hard snow oriented ski while it's big brother the Aftershock is more versatile as an all around ski. Either way I think you will be happy.
