The audio is designed in a manner that places the speakers above and slightly behind the ear canal on your skull. You can hear this just fine. The speaker placement allows the user to hear ambient noise - like an out of control boarder/skier bearing down on you. It also allows one to converse on the lift without turning the music off. Lastly, the speaker placement is better for your hearing.

I love my new helmet. Having been made with women who wear a ponytail in mind is also genuis. It is very comfortable and sturdy. I have fallen a few times and my K2 Moxie did the trick.

I love the fit, very soft and warm. Can't figure out the pony tail port and the audio is well, barely audible. Sending it back and ordered the Smith.
