The K2 Women's Luna Snowboard is back and ready to help you progress your riding into arced-out carves, hyper-fast spins, and huge airs. This directional board's Kevlar inlays dampen the board to provide a smooth ride at speed and give it powerful pop so you'll have no problem doing an ollie onto that rail in the park. K2's medium-flexing women's-specific Rhythm wood core is soft enough to give you the confidence you need when venturing into unfamiliar terrain but stiff enough to let you put the pedal to the metal when you feel like challenging the boys.

Ok, I don't know what all information you need but hopefully I can help some. As for a good board, you basically get what you pay for. The more expensive, the better it's gonna be. I would look for something that is an allmountain board. This way, as you're learning, you can take it anywhere, terrain park, fresh powder, or the bunny slope. This way you have maximum versatility. If you can find a board with a 'transworld good wood' award, then you know for sure that its a great board.
This would be a good beginner board for you (k2 luna). You have an advantage being a girl too because their boards are cheaper. Make sure you get a womens board though, they have a softer flex and are meant more for women (obviously).
Since you're a beginner I would buy a board from last years model line. (unless money isn't a problem) This way you can save some money and catch a good deal. Here's a list of the top ten womens boards under $400 from last year.

I picked up snowboarding a wee bit later in life, at 32.
Luna has been my best friend on the slopes for the last 4 years. It's seen me through the beginning to the point where I could probably get into a more advanced board. But I still love my Luna, it's very forgiving and versatile.
The graphics have gotten really boring of late though, I see.
I would say that if you're just starting out in the sport, this board will see you through til you're mastering everything else on the mountain. I'm still very happy with mine!

I totally agree as to both the veratility and to the boring graphics. I have an old K2 (prob almost 10 years) that has the most beautiful and original design on it. Need a new board now.

The luna is my first snowboard though I've been boarding a while and I absolutely love it.
It's easy to turn, holds it's edges when I stop paying attention, withstands my attempts in the park and is lots of fun in the powder, i'd recommend it to anyone, beginner or intermediate who wants a board they can play with all over the mountain..and it looks ace with the dakine stars as it's stomp pad

This board was my first board, and I still love it. It's worked well for me through many different conditions, and though I don't have experience with a lot of boards to compare it with, I don't have any complaints either!
