Kung Fujas Alpine Ski

Another year, and Pep Fujas just keeps going bigger. Not surprisingly, the K2 Kung Fujas does the same. More width and more rocker translate to an even better version of the previous Kung Fujas. It's an all-terrain, all-conditions tool that brings the park, resort, and backcountry to their knees with a dropkick to the face.

  • 7mm wider tip-to-tail for increased float and stability over previous models
  • All-Terrain Rocker for optimal blend of flotation and edging response
  • Traditional sidecut and camber underfoot
  • Removable tip and tail rivets allow attachment of pre-cut K2 climbing skins
  • Flat mount for use with bindings of your choice

Bottom Line: More cushin' for pushin' it like Pep.

I just bought these at 179 and mounted Marker Jester bindings in the center. Has anyone had any experience with these skis in the moguls in the east? I skied them for the first time this past weekend at Mad River through the moguls. They're my first wide ski and they felt a bit squirrly in the bumps. I'm thinking I just need to get used to them. I don't do the park stuff so I didn't get the Jester Schizo's, but just the regular Jesters. I'm thinking that I should have to be able to mess around with my stance to see if it makes a difference. Any thoughts?

This ski is big enough to float and take on the backcountry, yet still small enough to be able shred the resort and some of the park.

Really happy with great time on Kung Fujus 169 ... NorthWest

Really happy with great time on Kung Fujus 169 ... NorthWest pow/crud/groom/small jumps... fun to get some air... aggressive intermediate... not a park user (but these skis tempt me) 5'8" 175 lbs... Most recommend longer 179. Should I purchase 169 or 179 length ski? What kind of bindings? -2 to +2 placement?

By:

They can literally handle anything! I just bought my pair and have not switched them out with my racing skis all season. The Kung Fujas are just as good on the piece and on the pow they float like no other all mountain ski. Light for it's size, I highly recommend it to anyone!

Great Ski, you can use it anywhere

By:
February 10, 2011

I have a pair of Kung Fujas and I absolutely love them. They are soft enough where I can get them into the park, enough tip and tail rocker where I can ski some fresh lines in the trees, and smooth enough to where I can rip on groomers all day. These skis are perfect for a person who is looking for a great twin that will offer a great ski all over the mountain. I highly recommend this ski to anyone who is looking for a great all mountain experience.

One Ski Quiver

By:
November 19, 2010

This is a great all-mountain ski that I would call a "Jack-of-all-Trades, Master-of-None." Not necessarily a bad thing though. A good skier can make up for what these ski's lack in all situations and the ability to go anywhere and do anything on the mountain means I don't have to take a powder ski, quick groomer sticks and a twin-tip park ski up the hill. These ski's will definitely do it all, it just takes a bit of skill to get them to do it all well.

had last yr's model...

By: Backcountry.com Employee
November 5, 2010

I had last year's model which were slightly narrower than this year, but the concept is still the same. I skied Utah with it and it was my one quiver ski last year. Last year, it was rated one of the top park skis, but it surprised everyone in being rated as a top 5 all mountain ski as well. We don't have a ton of ice in Utah, but it held on those unexpected patches. I just recommend keeping the edges tuned regularly if you'll be skiing a lot of ice back east. A definite recommendation....

Hi, Im thinking about buing these skis, but I`ve got question.

Hi,
Im thinking about buing these skis, but I`ve got question. I already have movement goliath, which are good but not for pow. So I want somethnig for pow but not only. Im wondering about K2 obSETHed, K2 Kung Fujas or K2 obSETHED (last season model). We don`t have so many pow days so i want to ask if k2 obSETHed will hold me on ice? Or would K2 KF be good for pow? They are 102mm wide but Im 2 meters tall and my weight is 85kg.

Thanks for answering

I have the 08 obSETHed skis mounted with Marker Dukes, and I find them versatile enough to use as an all mountain ski. I have never had any problems with them sliding out from under me on icy days, and I don't really have any major complaints about them. The one complaint I do have is with the 100-105 width, and I'm not satisfied with the float and would like to move to an even wider ski. You could try to demo both before you buy. I'm guessing the new Kung Fujas may ride similar to the 08 and 09 obSETHed, which are great all mountain/powder skis. The 10 ski is probably moving towards more powder specific, but if your not skiing groomers and moguls the majority of time then why not? I'm thinking about selling my current set up as well as some 06 seths I have to get the new ones. ~120 under foot I think is the best compromise for a really good powder ski and a marginal ski for everything else, but if you live for pow, who cares about the rest of the season. When there isn't any pow, they'll get you down the hill comfortably if you're a good enough skier. Oh ya, and Seth is the man, so if it's good enough for him its good enough for me. Good Luck

Hey there,

Yes. This ski has a great all-terrain rocker in it that makes it killer for any condition. Mix that with a traditional sidecut and camber underfoot and you've got an awesome ski. The camber underfoot is going to allow better edge hold for the hard pack/ice while you still have some rocker tip and tail for some powder riding.

I think that I am going to get these. I mostly ski SoCal as I live here, but I do a lot of Tahoe and Mammoth trips. I make a few runs through the park a day, but mostly I am out searching for good snow, which is rare around here. As some one who literally ski's all types of snow, and is doing at least one AT trip this year (my first one) do you think that these ski's would be a good fit for me? I am 6'1" 220-230 lbs and am advanced/expert. Thanks!

These would work great they are like a really fat park ski that rip all mnt. and will have no trouble floating in pow. This ski really does it all. 189 should work well for you.

Hi, I skied these at Breck/Vail last year for about two weeks. I am 5'10" 168 lbs. I went with 179cm and it was perfect.
They performed well on the groomers and park, and when I dropped into the trees for some virgin powder they gave me no problems. I was pretty happy.
That being said, I ski 185 normaly and have a tendency to gravitate towards longer skis.
I wouldn't discount yourself, unless you're really focusing on the park you shouldn't go any shorter less you sacrifice stability at high speeds.
