The K2 Hippy Stinx Telemark Ski is all about big-air, big lines, and big, arced out turns. K2 designed this all-mountain ski for advanced free heelers who prefer steep, big-mountain lines and switch landings off spine transfers. These babies are stiff, burly, and rock-solid thanks to a fir torsion box core and super durable ABS sidewalls. A wide waist provides the float you need to get the most out of deep powder days. K2 also gave the Hippy Stinx a progressive sidecut to provide stability at high speeds while still allowing responsiveness for don't-fall-here lines on hometown steeps and Alaskan giants. These all-mountain skis are ideal for new school, powder jonzin' telemarkers who rock big boots and prefer straight up horse-power to flower power. *Not available for shipping outside US.

Impulse bought a pair of Sodo's (189cm)cause they were a steal ($200 still in the wrapping). Haven't ridden them yet but I'm excited to. Apparently the Sodo repaced the Hippie, but now they are discontinued too, so, what has replaced them for the 2010/11 season? Just curious. Also went with the Hammer Head binding, and still sporting the T1's. I'm a big dude, 6'1", 235lbs, advanced skier, I don't tour anymore, but I do rip. Should I be thinking about investing in a pair of T races in the future?

Ya, skis are sick - that's a great deal. I'm your size - been on 189s for a couple seasons - surf the powder well & handle top-speed on the groomer run-outs no problem. If your at a resort and find yourself on a groomer, just ski parallel and go as fast as you can to the tram. T1 is a great boot, I wore mine out and now have BD Push (think about the same,) If want to go stiffer boot try BD Custom - but you should be all set.

Actually, these guys are discontinued. I believe the k2 Sodo is the new version.

Next years model will usually come out around the end of summer start of fall, late september-ish. The price should be about the same, $650 or around there.

These babies are fun to ski. Float great and the huge scoop keeps you on top. I'm on the 189's. I've never skied a short ski so I don't know if they transition fast, but as I've improved this season my "hips" are easier and easier to throw around. They are stiff enough to keep some pretty high speeds and bust through crud much better than my older work stinx. I ski too fast for my ability and I feel solid almost all the time on these. They also have a great landing base. The can be a bit chattery when the snow hardens up.

Ya they would be too short for you. If you are serious about your expert skill level the 189 should work just fine for you.

How about a Dynafit on these? I've seen that Voile makes
How about a Dynafit on these? I've seen that Voile makes an adapter plate for insets->dynafit. Any experiences (i.e., is this robust enough for this ski)? Do you have this adapter plate in stock?

They're pre-drilled for tele bindings, but they have a standard mounting plate as well. Use a pair of Seth's (same ski) as your reference and mount Fritschis +3.
