A beloved classic makes its return again this year, celebrating big lines, deep pow, and stunning days on the backside in the tradition of its unforgettable namesake. This year's K2 Coomback 114 Ski didn't lose or gain weight over the summer, and it returns with the same capable 114mm waist for another year of surfing, floating, and smearing its way down deliciously soft lines.
Whether you're in Chile or Hokkaido, conditions won't be perfect every day, so K2 wisely gave the Coomback 114 full Hybritech sidewalls. Dive into the crusty stuff with confidence that these edges will hold rather than giving out the way some powder boards do, and enjoy the stability and responsiveness you gain in unstable chop from the rockered tips and tails. Those tips and tails come with slight tapering as well, allowing you to track cleanly through turns without getting stuck on heavier snow.
Even though the Coomback 114 is certainly not of the "skinny ski" variety, prepare to be pleasantly surprised to find the paulownia-maple wood core to be respectably light and nimble when you're hitting that skintrack for your fourth dawn patrol of the week. To ensure both torsional rigidity and durability, K2 added a torsion box in the core, along with a light but rigid Carbon Web laminate, so you won't have to worry about blowing out an edge when you're going mach-looney down a big line. When you get back to base camp at the end of the day, exhausted from a long day of trekking, jam the flat tails into the snow and hang your wet baselayers up to dry on your impromptu clothesline.
