K2 built the Apache Raider Ski w/ Marker M2 11.0 TC Binding to serve as a one-ski quiver for strong all-mountain rippers. The included M2 11.0 TC Bindings offer reliable performance and give you a setup that’s as eager as you are for the first day of the season.

  • Wide enough to float in the powder and crud yet skinny enough to slice and dice on the groomers
  • MOD Monic insert dampens vibrations and chatter
  • Triaxial braided core maintains torsional rigidity without sacrificing a lively flex lengthwise
  • Torsion Box Cap construction envelops the ski’s core in a durable shell
  • Fir and Aspen core blends bomber resilience with playful responsiveness
  • Marker’s M2 Binding connects to the ski through a ski / plate / binding system that transfers power directly from your legs into the ski’s core

Bottom Line: An extremely versatile ski that pillages the freshies and raises hell on the groomers.

I have 2008 (?) K2 Apache Recon skis and the heels keep getting damaged just by resting them on the ground. Epoxy to reattach the top layer of the ski does not work. The later versions have rubber heels that seems to have solved the problem but I would like to repair the ones I have, not buy new skis. Does anyone know of a good fix for the heels of these skis.

This happens a lot with some k2 skis. Luckily, that part of the ski doesnt really do much. You just dont want anything hanging off and catching on to anything and you also don't want moisture getting in. Did you make sure it was completely dry when you epoxied it? Also, cover with duct tape and clamp it down at least over night or a few days.

Just what I expected

I was a little worried about not getting the Recon of the same shape but stiffer flex but the Raider definately held it's own. This is my 4th pair of K2s over the years and they were comfortable from the first run. Came off a pair of Salomons and glad to be back. Factory tune could be a little sharper out of the box so perhaps a 1 or even a 2 degree touch up under the foot will be in order to get that extra hold. But, even at 5'9", 170, I felt the 177s skied just great.

I'm thinking about buying these for my Dad. He's 5"10 or 11. He would mostly ride groomers on the east coast and sometimes out in Park City. He has been skiing for year, can turn and carve well, likes speed. Would these be good?

I would say 170cm for the east. He would only want longer if he was primarily skiing out west.

I would say that you could easily get away with getting him the 177cm ski. That size would be stable enough, unless he is a heavier guy. But in general you only really need long skis on groomers for stability, so if he loves the high speeds, I would look into something maybe a bit longer.
