Roubion X01 Complete Mountain Bike - 2015

Several companies have received much slack this year for their portrayal of women riders as being unaggressive. Thankfully, Juliana is not one of those companies. The Juliana Roubion X01 Complete Mountain Bike is for women who ride hard and fast.

With six inches of travel, this bike is made for trails that eat adrenaline on the downhill, but the neutral geometry and lightweight frame beg to be ridden just as hard on the ups. Because some, but not all, women need smaller frames due to height, Juliana uses the 27.5 inch platform around which to build the Roubion. The 29er is a staple, but as Santa Cruz, on which the Juliana bikes are based, knows, it’s not ideal for smaller frames due to decreased standover height and compromised maneuverability. It features a full 150mm of rear travel using the same VPP dual-pivot system as is used in the venerable Santa Cruz line. This pivot system not only keeps the bike rolling smooth over technical downhill, it also allows you to climb back up and ride it again, and again.

Once again borrowing the lauded Santa Cruz technology, the Roubion features the front and rear triangles as singular pieces rather than being joined together from smaller assemblies. If you were to cut it in half, you'd find that the inside of the tubes have the same perfectly smooth finish as the outside. That's a result of construction techniques that maximize the compaction of the layers and minimize excess resin, The result is a light, stiff, and strong frame. The head tube angle is 67 degrees for high speed stability, while the chianstays sit at 17.3 inches to keep your weight optimally centered. The frame is finished with 15mm collet-style hardware and a 12x142mm thru-axle out back.
