Joplin Carbon S Complete Mountain Bike - 2015

Beginning with the frame, Juliana’s carbon frames are laid up in two pieces: the front and the rear triangles. There are no smaller assemblies being joined together. By constructing the frame in this manner, the need for added material to strengthen joints is eliminated. For the 2015 model, Juliana used a heavier carbon for added stiffness. The weight increased by about 250 grams, but the savings is in your wallet, as the heavier carbon allowed Juliana to use less of it. And, due to the strength properties of the carbon, there are no weight limits to the frame.

The rear suspension is the VPP dual-pivot system. Working hand in hand with the FOX FLOAT CTD Evolution rear shock, this system moves the bike toward its sag point using the upper pivot. Once it gets to within a third of the distance, the lower pivot extends the movement of the rear wheel toward the back. This ensures a smooth, controlled ride, even over tricky terrain.

The front of the Joplin features FOX's FLOAT 32 CTD Performance Fit fork, which has FOX's Climb, Trail, Descend system for control over the ups and the downs. Because the Joplin has a shorter travel than the Roubion, it is optimal for riders who enjoy rocking the trails, but who aren’t going to push the frames and their bodies to the ultimate max. The drivetrain is the Shimano SLX complemented with its XT front and rear derailleurs. Race Face is used for the stem and seatpost. SRAM hubs are laced to WTB STi19 TCS rims for a tubeless-ready ride that the Maxxis Ikon tires readily take advantage of. The compact, proprietary Juliana saddle, bar, and grips are, in fact, the only pieces of the build kit that are designed to be women-specific.
