The Julbo Nomad Sunglasses combine a wrap-around shape, removable side shields, and photochromic Zebra lenses to give you all the advantages in the high mountains. Though Julbo designed these glacier glasses for mountaineering and alpine climbing, their versatile design allows you to use them for just about anything. Slip them on your face when you head out for a hike or bike ride, and the let the Zebra lenses adjust to meet the lighting conditions and provide you with crystal-clear vision. Julbo even gave their lenses an anti-fog treatment to keep them from steaming up when the going gets tough.

Bottom Line: In the low plains or high mountains, the Julbo Nomad Sunglasses keep your eyes protected as you travel.

Great glasses

I love 'em. They're great glasses, although the price isn't as good as it used to be. Perfect for anyone with a small face. The inserts do a great job of blocking reflected light from your face, just like they should.

Has anyone tried these while sport climbing? Can you see bolts

Has anyone tried these while sport climbing? Can you see bolts on the face while wearing them? I've had polarized lenses that made bolts disappear.

Beast Shades

These things rock!!
I have both these and the Nomad with the non photo-chromatic lenses
I would wear these any day if I was just going out for a hike
as far as up on a glacier or in nothing but bright snow I think I would go with the regular lenses
I can sit here in a dark room with these on and easily type this review but at the same time if i go up into blinding snow they will darken down plenty its pretty cool
its all personal preference both are awesome glasses and do their job well if you have the extra cash spring for these if not ull be plenty happy with the standard ones

to what extent can these lenses reduce visible light transmission?

to what extent can these lenses reduce visible light transmission? Is it down to 5% like the Alti Spectron 4 lenses?

Zebra® photochromic darkens or lightens as the surrounding brightness changes from 40.7% to 6.6% of the visible light transmission depending on luminous intensity.

great fit and coverage with a nice style...the photochromic lens are worth the extra dough...they allow you protect your eyes in overcast or windy conditions without impairing your vision...that and the zebra lens have an amber hue which aids visability, especially on snow

Excellent Vision

At first I thought the lenses were not chromatic, but I was proved wrong. It depended on the intensity of the light and no matter what, my vision was crystal clear and uniform in opacity. Julbo rocks.

Love these glasses!

Love these glasses! I may not wear them up a mountain or on a glacier, but Alabama in the dead of summer is just about as bright and straining to the eyes as anywhere, especially down around the beaches. These glasses block the brightest sunlight and look great doing it. There is a little bleeding of light at the bottom outside edges, but nothing that is unbearable. Colors seem to come to life and jump out. There is some blocking of the peripheral vision but the shields are removable for driving; besides, I bought them for that very reason. Julbo has a new loyal customer.

Good, but not best

By:
August 10, 2011

They are good, but I went with the Julbo Explorer glasses instead. The Nomads did not block light from coming in all the way around. Granted this could be due to a funny shaped face. With these you really just have to try out all the options to see what fits your goofy face the best.
