The Julbo Instinct Sunglasses use Zebra photochromic lenses to instantly adapt to the ever-changing lighting conditions in the mountains. They automatically adjust from 59% to 88% light reduction to help you see clearly when you step out of the shadow and into the sun on a knife-edge mountain ridge. Their wrap-around design and long padded arms keep the Instinct Sunglasses in place for fast moving sports like mountain biking and trail running, as well as high-mountain endeavors.
Bottom Line: Julbo Instinct Sunglasses provide optimal lighting conditions to follow your natural drive in the mountains.
These fit like a charm--and I usually have trouble finding a pair that fit--and stay in place.
The lenses change for the light conditions so quickly and easily that I don't even notice. At first I was skeptical but they quickly became my favourite pair.
The only reason they don't get 5 stars is that I'd love to have the same lenses with polarization.
Does any one know if the lenses on the Instinct Zebra anti-fog are removable? I lost my old Instincts that had replaceable lenses, and still have the old lenses. These are very good sunglasses.

DISCLAIMER - My PR company handles Julbo. But, I have wear tested these for five years. They are my go-to shades for trail running and riding. They look a tad bit Euro, but they block wind and ventilate like no other glasses I've worn. They also fit a wide variety of face shapes, as my husband and I share them. Worth the price for sure!
The shade change is very fast, and is working well on snow to shade and back, very easy on my old eyes. Light transmittal seems about perfect. Optical clarity is excellent, with no distortion. These glasses are very resistant to fogging, and under some pretty extreme temperature changes; best I have experienced. They are also light and comfortable to wear. I like the larger size of these glasses, the side protection is very good and blocks excess light even on open snow(these are ANSI approved for all you working folk).
These are not guaranteed for anything. They are going to be an awesome pair of sunglasses though. The lens is going to change accordingly to the light. If you ever had a problem with these sunglasses ... scratched them, cracked them , or broke them. You can return them to Backcountry at any point. Tomorrow or in 30 years.
The lenses are wide enough that there is no need for the Glacier tabs to keep light out. While wearing them you dont notice the change in tint but if you look at the outside they go from a clear yellow (Think yellow ski goggle) to a mirrored Amber. Frame is solid, lens is solid.
Only complaint is the frame that wraps the lower edge of the lens tends to hold water droplets. Being that I`ve only used these while Ice Climbing it can get annoying. But they do not fog, which is great.
I was looking for ski glasses that would give me good late-day/flat-light contrast -- these really work well for flat light situations (and they darken for bright conditions). Nearly complete wraparound for medium sized face means good wind protection. No problem with fogging either.
I live 2 hours from any Julbo dealer but have owned their products and know of the quality so when I broke my first pair I automatically went back. I ordered these and loved the lenses but the frames were bigger than I liked and so I exchanged them for a different model (the typhoon). I will always use julbo, nothing compares, these just weren't my size.
At first these things sounded like a gimmick, but I am really impressed at how well they perform. The anti-fog coating keeps them from getting all steamed up on bike rides (like the Reflex glasses do). The stems are more comfortable than the Reflex sunglasses as well. The color-changing lenses do such a good job that I often forget theyre on and get strange looks when I wear them inside. They dont get quite dark enough to be used on high-altitude climbs, but my eyes seems to be more sensitive than most.
