As one of the most legendary powder boards on the market, the Jones Hovercraft Snowboard is aptly named for its effortless float on epic powder days. However, don't be fooled by this seemingly single-minded pow surfer. The Hovercraft slices through crud and holds an edge in hardpack with razor-sharp precision, thanks to its Mellow Magne-Traction edges, responsive camber underfoot, and mid-stiff flex pattern. Its large, blunted nose rises early, courtesy of the board's Directional Rocker. This blunted nose, in conjunction with a subtle swallow-tail and substantial set-back stance, makes the Hovercraft an absolute blast in deep, untracked conditions. Add in a slight dose of taper (11-12mm, depending on size), for a board that's extremely buoyant on those chest-deep days, keeping the nose up and planing in an almost unsinkable fashion, without any back-foot burn whatsoever.

The board itself uses a Classic Core made of full poplar wood for solid durability with plenty of snap. Eliminating plastics and lacquers from the board's topsheet, the timeless Bamboo topsheet adds extra dampening when you're riding over chunder and bumpy, rutted-out conditions. Biax fiberglass is reinforced with carbon stringers for added torsional rigidity and pop. Rounding things out, the Sintered 7000 base is incredibly tough and super-fast, helping you maintain speed through low-angle pow stashes when your friends are struggling to stay afloat.

I got this board from my wife as a christmas gift and used it regularly both inbounds and hikable side country. It's a fun board that does just what it says - rides pow great, but also decent on hardpack. It's also a very nice looking board.

Unfortunately after about 15 days of use the topsheet began eroding and some of the wood warped. The wood around the screw holes started splintering. I contacted Jones in january and hadn't heard back in a few weeks so I called to see what was up. They didn't get back to me for another few weeks. 6 total weeks waiting to hear back from them and the response was "This isn’t anything to worry about as all topsheets will wear after use". I had even sent them pics of the damage.

I was pretty bummed as I've been riding a Jones Carbon Solution for 2 years in the BC and have had no problems with it. After the poor customer service I'd think twice about buying another Jones product.

I ride 100 days a year and still have boards that I bought 10 years ago. Never seen one wear out like this.

I've had a decent variety of days on my '13/14 Hovercraft now, from icy to deep. It floats and maneuvers amazingly in deep treed conditions, can handle fine in moguls/choppy groomers, and carves well. It can even handle jumps in the park! I'm still just a little scared to ride switch at any speed... But that's not what it's meant for anyway. Basically, this board fulfills every claim the description makes! Unless you're really into the park I'd say it's great as a one-board quiver.

Last winter I had a blast testing the entire 2015/2016 Jones Snowboard line up and a whole bunch more. Contact me if you want to chat/email about which Jones board will suit your personal riding style the best.

The Hovercraft is a rad deck and most people view it as just a pow board. With the Mellow Magne-Traction edges, this board handles great on hard pack. I personally love that the edge hold on this board is awesome and allows me to lay down a mean carve!

2015/2016 Differences:
For this years model, Jones eliminated the aluminum tail protectors, whereas the version of the Hovercraft I have (2014/2015) has the aluminum tail protectors. This was to aid in reducing the tail weight on the board.

Shoot me an email or call me and we can size up a board for you!

Shoot me an email anytime you have questions about this board or if you'd like to compare decks or work on a full snowboard set up!

I've been riding it a lot so far on our early season snow pack (hardpack and ice) and I've really been enjoying it. For this board I've just been rocking it at the resort as I've got the Jones Solution and a Smokin' deck for my split days.

Definitely e-mail me and we can chat about whether this board would be the right one for you / the best set up for you.

I am 5,9 weight 155 in boxers probably 160 ish in gear, would a 152 suit me best given most reviews have the hovercraft as riding bigger than its size. I am right on the bubble per the sizing guide.
