    Powerful is an understatement.

This isn't the board for mellow pow laps on low-angle terrain or playfully cruising. On the contrary, the Jones Carbon Solution Splitboard caters to hard-charging backcountry riders looking to straight-line chutes and dismantle the steepest, gnarliest terrain with pinpoint precision. Building off the iconic performance of the regular Solution, the Carbon Solution is a souped-up beast that's extremely stiff, incredibly light and exceptionally damp, thanks to extensive carbon reinforcement and a brand-new Ultra Split-Core 2.0. Its directional shape excels in deep, untracked powder, also busting through chop and variable conditions without flinching. The Directional Rocker combines the benefits of a prominent, rockered nose for incredible float, with the powerful response of camber underfoot.

Inside this hard-charging board, the brand-new Ultra Split-Core 2.0 shaves serious weight for the long skin up, without sacrificing structural integrity. It's made of a durable triple-density wood that's reinforced with hardwood stringers along the edges for increased impact-resistance and powerful response. Bi-directional carbon construction acts as an ultra-stiff backbone, providing full, tip-to-tail reinforcement along the top and bottom of the board's wood core. This construction technique yields a super-stiff flex throughout the board's life.

New for 2016, the Carbon Solution uses a Sintered Ultra base that's modified with fluoro and paraffin-based additives for wicked-fast glide, as well as increased durability in widely varying backcountry conditions. Until recently, this base material was only available on specialty race skis, making it an excellent choice for maintaining maximum speed, especially through deep snow and long run-outs at the bottom of the mountain. Another important feature is the Mellow Magne-Traction along the inside and outside edges. These small serrations substantially increase edgehold when you're skinning up and shredding down icy, hardpacked snow.

This splitboard rides like a dream. The sport has evolved a lot through the years, from my first Voile split decision to the Hovercraft and solution splits and now this one... It is a pretty big difference between the carbon and the regular one, as this one is STIFF. Jones puts it a 10/10 where the standard solution is a 7/10. I went back and forth between the solution and the ultracraft, but ultimately ended up with a solution. It is more versatile than a long tour oriented board and can handle just about any snow condition out there with ease. It is a decent amount lighter than the non carbon which definitely helps in the ride and maneuverability and the longer approaches and ascents that I have encountered in California. It blows through the powder, blasts through the crud all while staying responsive. I found that this board rides best when you let it all out, wide open down the gnarriest terrain you can find. Mine is last years though so it doesn't have the skin notches - which from the feedback I've heard from others in the track, works pretty spot on and lightens up the setup a decent amount.

Jones Carbon Solution Split 158 cm,

The board is really great all around. The race base is pretty durable, alders do not phase the base. The edge hold is pretty great, I took this board down some crust and it handled quite well with speed and responsibility. The board does not ollie well, it is really stiff. Riding switch is not bad on this deck either. I have the Karakoram Carbon Primes, which is an amazing addition to the set up. Super responsive and ridged.

At 6'4", 207 lbs, and a size 11 boot, I'm having (too much) difficulty choosing between the 162W, 164, or 165W. Does the additional setback generally militate against needing the 164 or 165W? Would the additional width of the 162W provide the same float as the 164 without needing the additional length? Despite intensive analysis, I still can't seem to make up my mind (*sigh*) . . .

Hi, I have a sizing question. I'm about 180lbs, have size 8.5 feet and ride pretty aggressively (mostly in the PNW). I am looking at the 161 vs 164, and am interested in a narrower split that fits in a typical skin track laid by skiers, so am leaning toward the 161. I'm currently on a 161.5 T.Rice split, which is too wide and skins poorly on hardpack due to the center rocker. I'm curious about any sizing suggestions from anyone familiar with the Jones Carbon Solution. Thanks!

Does anyone know the weight of the Carbon Solution vs the Solution? (161cm)
