The Jetboil PCS Coffee Press turns your mild-mannered Jetboil Personal Cooking System into a caffeine-fueled, fire-breathing java machine with a swap of the lid. Featherlight at 1.2 oz and simple enough for anybody to operate, the PCS Coffee Press helps you say no to instant coffee and say yes to a cup of your favorite brew in the wilderness.
I use this out on my boat and when camping. Works good, though I prefer to make a little less and pour it into a 2nd cup rather than drinking from the Jet boil cup. Also don't put this on the cup until the water is hot and the fire off (duh) My Brother did that and we had hot coffee squirting everywhere!
Great addition to the Jet boil system. It is great to be able to wake up in the morning, turn on the gas, hit the ignition button and have fresh brewed coffee right there in your vestibule. Works well and packs in with the fuel canister etc for compact storage. Just keep an eye on it and don't let it boil over or you will have coffee grounds all over the burner and heat coils.
Will this coffee press attachment fit in the Jetboil Sol/Sol Titanium along with the other four standard Jetboil items (i.e., the burner, pot support, fuel cannister, and fuel stabilizer)? Others have already noted that fitting this in the Jetboil Flash cup (1.0 liter capacity; 7.1" tall) with the other four items is doable, but a tight fit (i.e., the plastic lid is just barely sealable on the top of the cup), so I'm curious to know if the Jetboil Sol/Sol Titanium (0.8 liter capacity; 6.5" tall) presents an even greater challenge, if not an impossible one all together.
Scott.. this will fit just take the screen and put it in the cup that protects the flux ring and the rod break in two and you can fit in side the stove

This product is my first experience with the French press coffee style and it is by no means a stripped-down-for-the-backcountry version. It makes FANTASTIC coffee and has turned me on to the world of the French press. I even use it at home and have turned other people on to the method with it. I ground my own beans before and even with a filter its the only way I do coffee, but with this I found I needed to use a coarser grind. I usually do a 15 second grind for a standard coffee maker, with this I do a 10 second grind (before leaving for the field) and the grounds are coarse enough to not slip around the strainer, granted you push the press slow enough (you're in the backcountry, what's the rush?). Silt sized particles slip through but that's acceptable and adds to the French press experience and mouth-feel. A caveat, the whole system fits in the PCS, but be sure to pack in such way as to keep the lid on the mug or you'll be hunting for the two rods in the bottom of your pack.
This little gadget turns your Jetboil into a coffee pot. Very lightweight and stores inside your Jetboil when you are done. Simply boil water, add your coffee and then press down with this gadget and you have some great and hot coffee.
So at first I thought this worked like crap, but it was completely operator error. You can screw the plunger into either side and if you put it on the bottom, you'll get a ton of grounds in your coffee. Put it on the right side and it works like a charm. Little messy cleaning the grounds off the press and jetboil cup, but that is typically for any coffee press.
This kit was an add on after I had used the jetboil pcs for a few trips. the couple ounces that this kit adds is worth its weight in gold every morning I'm sipping fresh coffee 15 minutes before everyone else is. I've also used it for loose teas with great success. Added bonus that it packs into the pot even with the fuel canister in there with the burner.
Make sure your coffee is a coarse grind and you take your time pressing it out or you'll be sucking down grounds.
The small amount of water to clean it out afterward is a minor inconvenience if you're far away from fresh water supplies but I generally have my filter with me.
If you drink coffee like I do this kit will be invaluable in the field. Snag one and get ready to bring that simple comfort of a hot cup of gourmet joe with you on the trail.
I've only used it a couple times... and I wasn't too impressed. I got a lot of coffee grinds in my cup every time. It may be I have to practice my technique a little. However, I do have a french press at home and I never have this problem.
I remember my first time using it. I had a huge amount of grounds. Then I figured out what I had done. The threads are inserted from the bottom side so, since I saw the bright, shiny thread insert, that's where I screwed it in. Later found that I had to screw it in from the side where the threads were NOT visible. Of course, it was the first time I'd ever used a coffee press of ANY type, so I only smacked my forehead a little. Once I squinted at the diagram, I noticed the right way to do it.
I had problems with grounds until I flipped the screen facing down. It made clean up quick. Plus if you add creamer in at the time of the grounds you can just drink straight from the pot without letting heat escape. You can leave the plastic mug at home now.
Hands down the best field coffee you will taste. In fact, in my hiking group I can usually find volunteers to carry any component of it that I don't want to carry if I mention making coffee. Word of warning: I think the fill limit is like 16oz for the JB. I have pushed this to about 24oz when making the coffee. I attempted to go more once but got nailed by the inverse of "a watched pot never boils" and had a java volcano that sprayed about 3 feet in the air. Good show! Great coffee! Use a courser grind.
There is nothing better than coffee in the wilderness but actually good coffee is purely from heaven. This thing is lighter than a lighter and works great. We would boil the water in the PCS then pour coffee grounds in (we used percolated sized coffee grounds) and push this thing down. Make sure to go slow because the grounds can jump up around the filter. But with the lid on, pour away! I took one sip on the first morning and was surprised at the outcome of actually delicious coffee. The stem unscrews into two pieces so it easily fits in your PCS. Seriously, a 10 essential piece for your backpacking trip! I'm replacing my percolator for sure! And forget that instant crap...
Fits like a champ, however the lid does not fit quite as tight, FYI. If you pack in manner that would allow the lid to come off and you keep the two separate press rods in the JB you may find yourself hunting for them in the bootom of your pack. Buy it now!
This Coffee Press is God's gift to humankind, but please remember not to add your coffee grounds until you have turned the heat off. To make proper French press coffee you pour boiling water over your grounds and steep for four minutes. My tried-and tested-method is to get a second Companion Cup (Item # JET0003). I put the grounds in the extra, boil water in the other one, and pour the boiling water in the spare that is not attached to the stove. It works great!!!
I was a little sceptical before using this coffee press with my Jetboil. But it works great! I usually have to press it twice to keep the grounds out, no big deal. Now I can make a cup of coffee where ever or when ever I want. You don't want to see me without my daily cup of coffee. Seriously.
It was very nice to be able to wake up and have a cup of coffee in the morning camping. I packed a small bag of coffee with the stove and it all fit easily. It is a pain though to realize that you have to wash the cup out after if you want to use the cooking system again though. Not much you can really do about that. There is some technique involved in lowering the press slowly. Then again this was my first french press experience. I'm sure it'll get better in time.
The Jetboil Coffee Press is great I used it to replace my French press to consolidate space. Haven't had a problem with my morning joe. Worth the money and takes up little room.
I do not drink coffee, but in order to get my friends up and moving faster in the morning to get climbing I made them coffee. I had never used a coffee press in my life and learned quickly. Make sure you push it down slowly or you will shoot coffee all over the place! But my friends were stoked and we were climbing faster than if there was no coffee. the boiling was like 60 seconds....GREAT!
This is a cool idea, and the product functions just as it says. Quality is fine, and I didn't experience any problem. If you really want gourmet coffee while your backpacking then I totally recommend this. That being said my experience with it was that it was more of a burden than a luxury. Once you're finished using it you have to use some of your water supply to clean it out, and even then you might end up with some coffee grinds in your dinner. I am just going to stick with Folger's singles (kind of like a tea bag).
I use this out on my boat and when camping. Works good, though I prefer to make a little less and pour it into a 2nd cup rather than drinking from the more...
Great addition to the Jet boil system. It is great to be able to wake up in the morning, turn on the gas, hit the ignition button and have fresh brewed more...
