Papa Bear needs a big pack to carry all his XL-sized gear for a week, so he needs the Jansport Big Bear 82 Backpack. Whether he's a grizzy or a black bear, the pack will fit thanks to an adjustable harness that slides between 19 and 22 inches. And since even bears need a little TLC, Jansport made the pack with comfortable ergonomic S-shaped straps.

  • Compression hood on top of pack cinches down your load
  • Large front panel sleeve gives you easy access to key items
  • Hydration sleeve, exit port, and tube management clips on straps ensure you stay hydrated on the trail
  • Mesh wet/dry pocket segregates soggy socks or swim suits from dry clothing
  • Side compression straps keep pack close to the body when not fully loaded
  • Exterior access to sleeping bag adds convenience and
  • Ice axe and haul loops let you store technical gear for more advanced routes

Bottom Line: A big bear of a pack.

This pack isn't super burly. It's meant for casual backpackers who go out in mild weather and treat their gear nicely. My buddy had a smaller version that we used for backpacking around Europe. It worked great for that too, although some of the seams started busting apart by the end of our two-month trip. If you use and abuse your gear, take it into harsh conditions, AND expect it to last for years - I'd invest in something burlier.

Hey Phil, this pack is cheaper because BackCountry is having their Cyber Monday sale.

Hi Heather, NO it doesn't... the only packs that I know of that come with rain flies stitched to the pack from the factory are Alps Mountaineering...
