Information about the Big Bear 63 backback states it has an adjustable 13-16 inch adjustable torso length. How does one determine if this is a good fit for me>

Yeah, Dean called it absolutely right, but you might want to double check to see how they came up with those numbers- Jansport's site confirms it, but that's an awfully small fit range if it's based on torso length- more like a kid's size (my 11 year old daughter is 14-15").
