Fishy, fishy in the brook.
You might have been content fishing with just a stick, a length of line, and a can of worms when you were a kid, but you've grown to appreciate the challenge that comes with catching more hard-fighting fish, and catching those beasts requires more specialized equipment. Lucky for you, you're not the only angler out there that wants to hook into those big lunkers that like to hide in remote corners of reed-filled marshes, sandy estuaries, and rocky inlets, and that's why Jackson Kayak built the Kraken 13.5 Elite Kayak. Rigged with pretty much everything you could ever need, or want, while you're out fishing, the Kraken will keep you fishing until you've caught your limit thanks to its seemingly limitless storage space and gear racks to securely carry every fishing gadget and gizmo you might own.
Its easy to get distracted by all the included bells and whistles the come with the Kraken, but at the end of the day, it's just a solid boat with a hull that is designed to effectively punch through chop and surf, glide like a stork, and remain nimble enough to navigate everything from tight stands of mangroves to wetlands filled with cattails. As implied by the name, the Kraken is thirteen and half feet long with a deck height of 14.5 inches, making a bit more maneuverable than the fifteen foot version of the Kraken with just a little less glide due to the shorter length. The open hull design lends itself well to fishing by giving the paddler full range of motion to make long casts, while the higher deck height puts you up above the surface so you're not sitting in a pool of water all day.
You can't really talk about the Kraken without discussing the included accessories, since the amount of gear this boat comes with is nothing short of staggering. The front of the hull is fitted with a built-in battery tray that keeps a battery (sold separately) elevated from the bottom of the boat to reduce water damage. Access into the front hull is through a dual-layered and neoprene-sealed dry hatch that can also be used to store extra gear and fishing equipment during those longer days. The main cockpit is home to a hinged center hatch that measures 26 inches in length and has a removable tray, which grants easy access into the hull while seated. The Elite Seat 3.0 system can be adjusted forwards, backwards, up, and down, and comes with a Therm-a-Rest lumbar support pad for an extra bit of comfort. The seat is also fitted with a Sealline waterproof seat pouch to keep valuables dry and easily accessible. In addition to the included Ram rod holders, Yakattack gear tracks, and GoPro mounts, the Kraken also comes with a KKrate bait tank that will accept a bilge pump (sold separate) to keep live bait fresh and ready to fish. And since it's always important to stay hydrated, Jackson threw in a Nalgene bottle to sweeten the deal a bit more, even though we're sure you'll have plenty of beverages on board.
