The Isis Niobe down jacket is a personal furnace with feminine touches for the coldest winter days. Isis tapered the waist, lined the collars and pockets with velvety microfleece and tossed some stars across the lining to make it beautiful and functional. Pockets are sized to hold everything from a water bottle to a wallet. In lush colors, with block quilting over the highest quality down, the Niobe keeps you warm with style. –Vendor
this was actually the second niobe down jacket I've purchased, which should give you an idea of how much i like this coat. i live in bush Alaska and spend hours every day outdoors. i use a down jacket as the layer beneath my outer parka - this coat is one of the few I've found for women that a) actually fits and b) is warm enough to be functional in extreme cold. I've also gotten a lot of compliments on it when i wear it without the parka - that's a nice bonus!
It looks nice, and is very warm. We live in northern VT, when temps drop below -10F or so, she wears this with a Marmot jacket as the outer layer. The combo is warm no matter how cold it gets. Very good product - looks great, stays warm.
I began searching for a down jacket about a month before choosing the Isis jacket. I had considered North Face and Patagonia. I don't like advertising for North Face, so I was hesitant to get the jacket. Luckily, I found the Isis jacket on backcountry's website. I hadn't even heard of the brand. So I read up on the brand and liked what I saw. I took a chance and got it... and I love it! It is so warm and very stylish. I couldn't be happier about my purchase, and happier about a brand for women only! I tell everyone about this jacket and the brand. Thanks!!

I love this jacket. Its our third week of frigid temps in NYC, and this jacket has helped me survive. Its super warm, and doesn't leak. It provides a "fitted" shape (I no longer look like a marshmellow), but also plenty of room for layers underneath. The pockets are great too--large internal pockets are very deep and nothing falls out. My only complaint is I wish it had a hood.
This jacket was great, really warm and waterproof, and the soft fabric at the neck and wrists was downright luxurious - but it was a tiny snug, and there was no half size, or even one size larger.
This is the first down jacket I've owned and I'd give it 5 stars if I were only wearing it to run around town in, it's very nicely fitted so you don't feel and look like a marshmallow. It's been warm enough for Colorado winters and as far as being functional on the mountain I'd suggest a windstopper fleece underneath for very windy/cold days because you can actually feel it if it's a strong wind blowing through the zipper where there is a lack of down. Also noticed that it was nice and waterproof when I got it but I need to re-waterproof it after about 10 wearings, not a big deal.
This coat is fantastic! I get cold very easily and I like to go for walks at night year round, in this coat you are incapable of being cold (in California). I recently wore it on an east coast trip and it performed flawlessly there too. It's cute and yes the sleeves may be on the short side, but I'm on the short side so that's a plus for me. You do suffer from the Michelin syndrome in this one, the puff factor is BIG. Most people who have seen it say, "wow, that looks like a warm coat!" Complement or criticism, don't know and don't care. Enjoy this coat.
I bought this jacket for my fiance who hates the snow and cold weather. Unfortunately, it snows where we live. She loves the jacket and wears it everywhere we go. The sleeve length is perfect for a petite person. The overall length is also perfect for a petite, short torso person. Her only complaint is that it does not have a hood. I work outside in the weather on a graveyard shift and am acclimated to the cold. Now, thanks to your jacket, she is able to ride with me while I'm working and she doesn't get cold. Overall, she rated the jacket at 4.5 because it does not have a hood.
Great jacket, stayed very warm through the winter storm after Christmas...and during extreme sledding! Wish it was a little longer in the back...snow crept in while we were having fun! Even though it was soaked through by the end of the day, I was still very warm! Great everyday and great for outdoor activities!
