The Inov 8 FlyRoc 310 Men's Trail Running Shoes use ¾-length composite insoles to support your feet on steep, loose, burly trails while the aggressive tread provides great traction on nearly any terrain. No wonder FlyRoc 310 Shoes have won awards from a slew of trail running publications. Inov 8 made the uppers with nylon mesh to increase breathability on hot summer runs—yet another reason these are the best-selling shoes in the Inov 8 line.

Bottom Line: Take the Inov 8 FlyRoc 310 Trail Running Shoes' award-winning performance on your next day in the hills.

Cool shoe

I've had these shoes for two years and they are still going strong. They have taken me over lava fields in Hawaii and through muddy trail runs. Love these shoes - but because of their really wide toe box, they can feel a bit loose up front if you're really trying to rip it down fast steep trail. I consider these the do-it-all trail shoe - but if you're looking for something to wear to drop 6 min miles over rolling terrain look at one of the other Inov-8 products (Great company)

FlyRoc 310

By:
November 18, 2008

I had these shoes now for about 3 weeks. I also have the 315's.
I like both shoes as far as the grip and fit up until running up longer hills in a Ultra with the 315's. Five mile started getting a blister 1 inch up and to the outside of my Achilles tendon so I had to change to my old shoes to finish the race. The next week I got the 310 in and tried these in the next ultra. This time I taped the problem area hoping this would help this out. It did for 20 miles then I switched out the my old shoes again.
So I called Inov8 and asked them about it. They suggested that I not use the upper eyelet and try it then. So far I think it is going to fix the problem. I have not ran the longer miles with them, but then do feel alot better in that area.

How are these from a stability/foot pronation standpoint? I have flat feel so I have to be careful to avoid some shoes.

Not much support in these at all - if you have flat feet you'll feel a bit "floppy" in them. I've run a couple of trail races in these but they are better for fast-hiking, stomping around in the woods or desert and canyoneering (I'm of the school that doesn't believe in waterproof shoes for this activity), or just running around with the dog in the park.

Zoom!

By:
May 4, 2007

These are not typical trail-running shoes. They are light, light, light. Which means they are *not* for everyone. If you're in the Clydesdale category, or you need a shoe with lots of support and/or stability control, these are not for you. On the other hand, if you are of athletic build, have trouble-free feet and normal running gait, and you want to run *fast* on trails, then you are going to love these shoes. The feel of running at breakneck pace over uneven terrain is exhilarating. The shoes are super grippy, and have a stiff enough sole so that running over rocks and stumps is still very pleasant. These are probably not shoes that you will want to train in day after day (although I have to say that they are surprisingly forgiving), and certainly not what you'd wear over a really rocky course (the sole is fine, but the ultralight uppers will get cut up fast, as will your feet inside!) But come race day, these are *exactly* what you're looking for. Zoom!

Finally, a note about sizing: I'm a fairly regular US 10 in most running shoes, and found the 10 to be a little on the snug side. The 10.5 however, was noticeably too big. So I guess they run just a smidgen on the small side.

Try them and you'll love them!!

By:

I have run a mountain marathon and trained for it in these for every long run over 16 miles (I use mudclaws and mudrocks for my short runs or terrain challenges.) Nice for downhill speed too! Super lite and super traction for a distance shoe - my favorite inov-8 shoe! Be sure to change them out around 250-300 mile as they get flat quicker than others. As for rocks, they are more protective than Mudclaws. There was a shortage this summer on these shoes and I am afraid inov-8 might discontinue - I'll be stocking up.

Love Em

By:

Loved this shoe from the moment I put it on. Fit was great. Felt fast and nimble. If you are condidering these do note that they don't have much support, so it might take some getting used to. Do runs up to 10 miles in these anything longer,I wear the Roclite 315. Also love those too.

Overbuilt is overblown, these rock

By:
April 24, 2008

I tad lighter than the RocLite 315's and a scoosh heavier than the MudRoc 280's, these are great for everyday trail runs. Long runs, I grab the 315's; races, I'm into the 280's; for everything else, these are my go-to shoes. I generally order two pairs at a time of each of these b/c I'm always afraid they'll change the model or get rid of it. I really love the whole Inov-8 line: I feel the trail and that makes me happy. Seriously, I feel like a little boy running through the woods. Then again, I think it's okay to feel rocks under your foot. Most shoes don't let me do that, there's too much protection. I've run in the overbuilt "tanks" that are out there, and they are okay, but my lower leg musculature, especially my foot musculature, never developed enough. I tried these and my feet were sore for a couple of weeks b/c my muscles were taking on more of the load...now my feet are stronger and I'm a better runner for it. Get these and go fast.

Go. Run. Fast.

Get these

No kidding, these are the best trail shoes I've owned. So light, comfortable, and grippy. It takes about 5 miles to break them in, after which they are a joy to wear. The shoes really shine on decent: I've bombed down terrain full speed, that I wouldn't have considered before. Definitely a technical, application specific shoe.

time for a new pair!

By:
June 2, 2008

I picked up a pair of these shoes in London, England a few years and i didn't really know how good the shoes was until Tough Guy. A few years on and I have worn the life out of them, just about to buy my second pair. If you love running trails wet or dry these shoes are amazing, so light and durable. I particularly like the grip you get, no slip just the confidence to put your foot anywhere.

Very Durable

By:
May 15, 2008

I am not a runner but I found them very comfortable and very light weight. I snowshoed Vail Mtn in them many times, trail hiked through streams and mud and wore them daily at work in the clinic for two years before getting my second pair.

Great Running Shoe!

By:
March 20, 2008

We have a rocky loop around the airfield in Afghanistan where I'm stationed. The normal shoes they sell in theater are demolished within months and caused my joints to ache. After buying these, my knees and ankles feel better, and they've already lasted longer than my last pair of Nikes.

This Shoe Changed My Life!

By: Backcountry.com Vendor Rep
April 24, 2007

Support, support, support! We've been fed this for years, but when you really need to fly what goes on those feet? Light, flexible, and minimum is what you look for, right. Who would run a fast x-country race in a overbuilt shoe? No one in the top twenty! So now your running on trails and you expect the overbuilt trail shoe to make the grade? When you are contouring how can a shoe built to keep you from rolling one way work on both feet? They do not! The Flyroc is built with the idea that your foot is designed for trail running and it lets the foot do the job. Light, flexible, low to the ground, protective sole and breathable upper combined to make a great trail shoe. When I first put this shoe on and hit a rugged MT Rocky Mountain trail my ideas of what makes a good trail shoe changed, and I started representing Inov-8 the next day.

Excellent shoe

By:
August 3, 2007

This truly is a fast shoe. As others have mentioned, if you need a lot of support, this is probably not the shoe for you. I run on mixed terrain of roots, rocks, gravel and grass and have found this shoe to be excellent on all these types of terrain, wet or dry. There is not as much cushioning and protection as one will find in The North Face's 10X line, but if you're looking for burly, I'm guessing you won't be reading this review anyway. This shoe is a lightweight trainer/racing flat for trails. I'm itching to try Inov-8's 280's to see how those feel. I'm guessing they're great racers, but not such good regular trainers. Anyway, if you're looking to experiment with some lightweight shoes that are good in a wide range of conditions, I highly recommend these.
