Ultralite 27.5in Wheelset

Tipping the scales in the sub-1400 gram category, the Industry Nine Ultralite 27.5in Tubeless Wheelset gives you a competitive advantage in cross-country races. 27.5-inch wheels roll over obstacles easier than 26-inch wheels without the extra rotational mass of their 29-inch counterparts, ensuring fast acceleration and smooth tracking over undulating cross-country terrain.

One its biggest advantages lies within machined 7075 aluminum spokes, with a 25% greater cross section over comparable double-butted steel spokes. This improves tensile strength, while using 24 spokes at the front and rear wheels for significant weight savings. To compensate for the lower spoke count, the wheel's 2:1 lacing ratio places 16 spokes along the side bearing the larger load to improve balance and stability. Please note the Ultralite Wheelset works best with riders under the 180-pound weight limit, which makes sense considering its cross-country racing pedigree.

The Ultralite wheelset's Torch hubs feature separately available end caps, ensuring compatibility with front and rear thru-axles, as well as their quick-release counterparts. Straight from the box, they're ready for use with a 15-millimeter front and 12x142-millimeter rear thru-axle, with the XD driver-equipped option fully compatible with SRAM's 10-42-tooth cassette. However, the big story with the wheelset's Torch hubs is their near-instantaneous three degrees of engagement and 120 points of contact, which makes for powerful acceleration during racing scenarios. Moreover, the hubs' Teflon shields and endcap O-rings seal out trail debris and grit from degrading performance.

Looking to the tubeless-ready aluminum rim, its double-wall extrusion adds stiffness without excess weight. In fact, they only weigh 352-grams each, making them just as light as many carbon rims on the market. They're sufficiently wide to run a true 2.4-inch tire, thanks to their 25.2-millimeter outer-width. And because they're tubeless-ready with included Presta valve stems and rim tape installed, you'll reap the benefits of running lower air pressure for a smoother ride over roots, rocks, and uneven trail surfaces.
