Are these Dry pants? Do they have gaskets around the ankels?

These are a dry pant. The ankle gasket is made of neoprene, not rubber so it might not be quite as water tight, but it will keep most of the water out and neoprene gaskets are much more comfortable. I had had great luck with IR's neoprene gaskets.

Check out this youtube video by IR that explains the pant...

I'm not rating this pant for its purpose. I expect it will perform as described. When they arrived I found them to be too heavy and stiff and the air that trapped in them made it uncomfortable to move in. I wanted a less heavy fabric. I also want to comment that the pants I got did not come with the black/dark grey panel from the knee down. They were all medium grey.

Hi Lorne,
IR does make a light duty pant called the Zephyr Pants, designed with rec/touring in mind. They are made of a 2-ply material, rather than the 4-layer material that the Comp Pants are constructed from, as advertised. If you find that the pants that were ordered are not ideal for your paddling situation, please contact Backcountry.com for a return slip, they have an excellent return policy. Cheers!
