Like a medicine man for those days between storms, the Icelantic Shaman SKNY Ski will cure your hardpack woes and still be magical on those unexpectedly soft days. The people were clamoring for a more frontside-oriented board from Icelantic, and since the brand had such a good thing going with the original Shaman, it just performed a shrinking spell to make a board that'll be a perfect one-ski-quiver for Right Coast rippers and carve-loving frontside jockeys who like to venture off-piste every now and then.
The SKNY checks in with a tip, tail, and waist that are 20mm skinnier than its chubby brothers, leaving the relatively short and nimble turning radius unaffected but creating a ski that's far quicker edge to edge. It also keeps the same diamond-shape shovel, which combines with traditional camber to ease turn initiation and increase edge hold when you're laying the SKNY over as hard as you can (it also gives you enough float to keep things easy when the snow adds up). The core is made of light and snappy poplar that's laid down with two fiberglass laminates to keep things durable and torsionally stiff when you're putting tons of energy into the ski. It's finished off with a sintered Durasurf 4001 base that's lightning-quick to help you squeeze the most fun out of every top-to-bottom lap. As a bonus, each SKNY weighs about two pounds less than the equivalent traditional Shaman, making them magically quick through the trees and easy to carry around.
