Like a medicine man for the not-so-deep days, the new Icelantic Shaman SKNY Ski will cure all your hardpack woes, and still be magical on those unexpectedly soft days. The people were clamoring for a more frontside-oriented board from Icelantic, and since the company had such a good thing going with the original Shaman, it just hit it with a shrink ray to make a board that'll be a perfect one-ski-quiver for Right Coast rippers and carve-loving frontside shredders.
The SKNY checks in with a tip, tail, and waist that are 20mm skinnier than its chubby brother's, leaving the turning radius unaffected but creating a ski that's far quicker edge to edge. It also keeps the same diamond-shape shovel, which combines with traditional camber to ease turn initiation and increase edge hold when you're laying the SKNY over as hard as you can (it also gives you enough float to keep things easy when the snow adds up). The core is made of light and snappy poplar that's laid down in a sandwich construction to keep things durable and torsionally stiff when you're putting tons of energy into the ski, and finished off a sintered Durasurf 4001 base that's lightning-quick to help you squeeze the most fun out of every top-to-bottom lap. As a bonus, each SKNY weighs about a pound less than the traditional Shaman, making them magically fast through the turn.
