Hmmm ... the Icelantic Shaman Ski may make the superstitious a bit nervous, but after a few sets of turns on a powder day you're all about it. Handmade in Denver, Colorado with killer graphics by artist Travis Parr, the Shamans feature 160mm diamond-shaped tips for unrivaled floatation in powder, crud, or mushy snow. Thanks to the traditional camber and generous sidecut, the Shaman conjures up hardpack-ripping turns with just as much confidence.
These well-designed, handmade skis feature a poplar wood core for
durability, strength, and pop, while strategically-placed layers of ETLX
2200 fiberglass, unilateral fiberglass, a matte fiberglass mounting
plate, and carbonium topsheet material provide torsional rigidity and
improved durability. Its three layers of 20mm rubber foil,
placed at critical points throughout the layers of the ski, help to absorb
vibrations and chatter during high speed turns on hardpack.
In case you're worried about blowing an edge, don't be; Icelandic gave the Shaman 2.2mm steel edges that you can count on. And if you're all about skiing fast and fluidly down the mountain, you'll enjoy the Nomad's Durasurf 4001 sintered p-tex bases.
