Icelantic made the Pilgrim to go anywhere and rip anything. This all-mountain adventurer blends a soft tail, a solid flex and aggressive sidecut for a powerful, playful feel on everything from crud to groomers. The 90mm carves up variable snow like a hot knife though turkey breast, and the poplar core and fat 127mm shovel plow through mashed-potatoes faster than your fat uncle at the holidays. The Pilgrim stays hungry for backcountry missions, and tipping the scales at less than 7lbs, these lean skis excel as lightweight touring rigs.

Bottom Line: More fun than Thanksgiving with the natives.

Sweet all round East Coast ski

By:
February 2, 2010

I have a pair of 169 Pilgrims mounted with Hammerheads and LOVE them. Had a pair of demo's for a couple days at Jay and they ripped through everything and held a great edge on the ice. Yeah...missed the snow up there but was perfect for understanding the all round awesomeness of the Icelantic Pilgrim!I bought a pair two days after that demo! I'm 6' 190 and I never felt like the length held me back. Denver made was the icing on the cake for me. I got a pair of 08/09 with the mean looking Joan of Arc on wicked sale from EMS.

Great testimonial for an East Coast ski! Wish I could cover more of the earth, but cannot right now, so blades that can turn Maine mix -where ice must be expected - into fun make my heart go aflutter! Thanks!

Could a beginning skier be able to ride this ski, and then really improve?
I'm trying to find my friend a ski that he can use for 4+ years, and by then he will be a good, advanced skier by then.

That is a tricky question that depends on a lot of variables. First, is where your friend plans on skiing. If he wants to end up in the park and the groomers, this ski can handle that, but if he wants to progress into a variety of terrain which may include softer snow, you may want to look at something like the Nomad, which is more versatile. Also, your friend should not base his ski choice on 4 years from now, say he learns quickly, and within one season wants a much beefier ski for big mountains, or perhaps you pick an expert ski for him, but then he does not have fun on said ski, and then no longer wants to pursue the sport. Also, the body dimensions of your friend should be taken into account when choosing. Good Luck!

Pilgrim Ski- Awesome

By:

Great ski. I own a pair of these and a pair of Icelantic Shamans for the heavy powder days. The Pilgrims are super easy to turn. I became a 200% better skier just putting them on. Icelantics are the real deal. Never thought I'd be tree skiing but at age 50 these skies turned me into an off piste vagabond. You won't go wrong with these.
