SuperFine150 Inca Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Icebreaker Men’s Superfine140 Inca Long-Sleeve Shirt protects you from the elements without causing you to overheat in hot, summer conditions. The ultra-lightweight Merino wool wicks sweat and other moistures, breathes well, and blocks sunlight and bugs. Use this versatile top to layer up in colder conditions.

  • Icebreaker switched from 150g/m2 to 140g/m2 merino wool halfway through production, so you might receive either weight (the weight of the 140 merino is just a little bit lighter)

Bottom Line: Great for hot, cold, and everything in between.

Not quiet what I expected...

By:
May 3, 2011

I'm a 41R (34 sleeve) normally, going with a large the fit was not bad through the shoulders, but the sleeves were far too long.

As another review had stated the bottom of the shirt had frayed edges, well soon to be, they were not bound.

Not sure if this is by design

By:
October 27, 2009

I just got the shirt, and I'm not sure if this is how it's supposed to be or if it's a mistake from the factory, but...

...the bottom of the shirt where it's folded over and stitched up to prevent fraying is not quite right. It's like it got sliced off at the bottom so instead of a folder over piece of material at the bottom, I have 2 single pieces of material, and I'm sure they'll both fray!

This can't be right...

Oops, but according to the posts below that IS the design for this style. I have an older version of this superfine long-sleeve that's stitched normally. The stitching on this version isn't ideal. Read the posts below for details.

The super-fine shirts from Icebreaker are fantastic, however, especially if you have broad shoulders and long arms: they fit perfectly.

That's not normal for Icebreaker. Their stuff is normally top-quality.

I agree, both are amazing colors. Unfortunately we don't have either of the 260 or 320 weight in them at this time. However, don't lose hope that could change come the fall. You're best bet is to check back.

bad design--loose threads

By:
April 14, 2010

washed once, according to directions. hem has rolled up like a cut tshirt and has a couple of loose threads. why bother with the fake hem? its a dumb design, imho, going for fashion instead of functionality. not everyone who wears icebreaker is a hipster riding a fixed-gear.

the 150wt merino is great - but designed for design, not function

By:

first of all the merino is great--after buying my fiance a Sugoi Wallaroo 170 long sleeve and having a bunch of short-sleeve stoic/bc merino pieces, and a 260gt 1/4zip from ice breaker, i'd decided i too wanted a long-sleeve base layer out of merino. the price on steepandcheap was great--and the shirt itself fits well and is your typical high quality merino layer. I have a 38in chest and the small fits loosely, not tight like a stoic/bc.com tshirt or underarmour or anything. however, the shirt has some intentional design flaws, as i see them.

as shown in the other pictures, the hem of this shirt is a normal hem that looks like it has been roughly cut with scissors. Thus it rolls after being washed and will get some loose threads. i have been told by icebreaker that this is an intentional design that they felt was an 'important trend to capture'. well the trend is forever captured in this shirt. hopefully on the next run they don't feel like they need to re-capture it. in the future i will look to buy sugoi, bc.com/stoic, ibex merino layers instead of icebreaker. the 'raw hem' is as retarded of an idea of buying pre-worn jeans with scuffs and holes, and at MSRP, you're paying top dollar for the 'important trend'. screw that

Agreed completely. When a brand attempts to go "trendy", that's usually a bad sign. Thanks for the seam pictures, which look awful indeed. You might want to try some of their other Superfine 150 shirts, such as the "surf t" (http://www.icebreaker.com/site/icebreaker_man_superfine150_prints_tech_t_lite__surf.html). I got my other half one this season, and the seams were normal. On their website, IB did say that the Inca has "Raw edge detailing at neckline, back raglan seam, sleeve hem and body hem". I will take note that the Inca is one of the few shirts for me to avoid buying.

Not as good as earlier model.

By:

I am 6'1" and weigh 190 and bought the xl. I already have the same shirt from a year or two ago in the xl and the new one fits differently. It seems that they have widened the cut in the newer model. I am not sure if the large would have been a better fit. In this model the length of the body and sleeves were both fine for me. I gave the shirt to my brother who is an inch taller and about 245 and he likes the fit for him. As other reviewers have stated this shirt has frayed edges. This does not bother me but be aware of it before you order.

Or is that by design so that it'll fray?

i went to their flagship store in portland oregon and in fact the long-sleeve 150wt inca shirt is designed this way. So, they're just stupid designers trying to make a hipster friendly shirt.

Everything it's suppose to be...

From the Icebreaker.com website the description clearly says, "Raw Edge"

The ultimate protection against the scorching summer sun, this wardrobe staple can be layered with other Icebreaker garments in cooler climates and conditions.

Raw edge detailing at neckline, back raglan seam, sleeve hem and body hem
Forward side seam
Icebreaker embroidered logo and hem pip label

I am 6'3" 240#'s with a 46" chest and the XL fits me awesome, even after washing it several times. It fits loose and looks good. I love this shirt, it's like a second skin...

I tried to upload a picture of the hem detail and ragged edge. Where the material was folded over at the hem it resulted in a pleat or fold. The material at the pleat or fold has split...
