Only the older discontinued colors are discounted. Black is a current color so it isn't marked 50% off.

I often get itchy from wool and sometimes get a fine rash. Has anybody had this difficulty with this dress?

I can only speak to the itchiness of merino and Icebreaker generally. I also get super itchy from wool such as that found in sweaters and older socks. But merino wool is a much smaller fiber and is much finer than the traditional wool you find in older pieces. It feels more like a very soft cotton than wool and I actually have no itching issues with my Icebreaker layers in the Superfine200 weight.

This dress is really soft, for me. I do not mind the texture of merino wool, generally, but am aware of it; and this dress is softest. It's also see-through; needs a slip, though I am thinking of buying it in a second color and sewing the two together, to make a lined/reversible merino wool summer tank dress. Self belt or elegant belt work well. The blue is just what my monitor shows. Well made, too!

You can also wash your new Icebreaker- that makes it softer.

I had the same issue until I discovered Merino wool. Icebreaker uses very fine wool, which makes it very soft. The softest I have worn.

- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I bought this dress in black to wear with boots and some colored tights for a casual look. It was exactly what I was looking for. I am 5'2" 115lbs and the XS fit great. The length hit a couple inches above my knees which was perfect.

I ordered the small size of this dress earlier in the year and found that it was really tight and too low-cut to wear without a cami underneath. I'm 5'7", 135# and the medium fits much better. It shows a little skin but it's not scandalous, and the material (like all Icebreaker clothing) is wonderful. It hits an inch or two above the knee. The blue color is vibrant and will match pretty much everything. My only complaint is that the top of the dress is a bit loose compared to the bottom. The tie belt that's included only seems to exacerbate the problem, but a regular belt cinched at the waist helps. Even with this minor detail, I can tell that I'll get a TON of wear out of this dress as it's versatile and comfortable.
Great Dress!

I bought this dress in metro/blizzard and the stripes are soft not really graphic. I've worn it with a grey/wht long cardi and it was great. I usually wear s/m but I also have the dress in red and I sized up to a L. I know it'll shrink and I prefer a looser fit. I can layer it over a thin wool t. I've also worn it backward with the V in the back. This is the 3rd one I've bought. Great basic that you can do lots of things with. I wear it with a leather belt although I like that the fabric one is so long.

could I buy the large and wash/dry it on hot to shrink it? Has anyone had luck with this?

Drying Icebreaker is not recommended- it can shrink and harm the fibers. You are best to order a medium.
Super awesome dress!

this dress is great in so many ways. The material is amazingly soft. The style and cut of the dress is sexy yet you can wear it to so many things - basically you look sexy without looking like you're trying to. The front is nicely cut - low enough to have appeal, but not so much you fall out. Hem is a little lower than mid-thigh. Again, sexy but not trying to be.
The only downside, if there's any at all - because of the softness & drapiness of the fabric, you can't have a lot of lumps and bumps, or noticeable underwear. It contours to you quite well.
I got mine a tad on the small side - size S, I'm 5'8", 140#, so it doesn't look so drapy on me, like the light gray one pictured in another review. Mine clings a little more.

I love this dress, not only is it super functional, but it's also super cute. The tie around the waist is super flattering and you can do a lot of different things with it. I really like this dress. I'm 5'4" and about 115 lbs and the small works perfect for me.
Great for traveling

I really enjoy this dress. My husband bought two of them for me in different colors. They are flattering in cut, and can be dressed up or down. They wash easily in a sink and line dry quickly. I am 5 feet 4 inches and about 115 pounds, and the small fits well. I am of an athletic build, so the belt sitting at my waist gives me a more girly figure, which I like! It seems true to size (I have a small). On a recent trip driving from Germany, through France, and to Spain, it was great for dealing with the temperature changes (from cool in Germany, to hotter than Hades in Spain). I really like these and have worn as is, as well as with a cami underneath for a bit of modesty.
Love this dress!

It so sweet to be able to wear it to work and on a date with a husband right after long day in the office! Cant wait to take it for a longer trip with me! I got pewter - it goes well with all my colorful scarves :-)
Merino is really the bomb

Bought this dress in two colors - pewter and metro/blizzard - and if I could live in it, I would. The fit is true to size, though the vee neck is lower than the red dress on the model would suggest. Easy to dress up or dress down depending on the occasion. I love how it has just enough sleeve to be work appropriate, but not stuffy.
The belt actually wraps around a few times, which makes it look a lot nicer and hold everything in place.
Another slam dunk by IB!
LOVE!

Love love love this dress. I have it in black and it's great! I wear it to work all the time, or out to dinner, or just hanging around. I was skeptical of the wool, but it's not scratchy or thick or hot. Great piece! Runs true to size.

I am very petite and was hesitant as well to try this style of dress. I am so pleased that I tried it out, as it has quickly come to be my go-to dress for nearly any occasion. At 5'2", 105 lbs. and with athletic shoulders, the x-small fit me perfectly. The scoop neck is flattering on a smaller chest and the wrap waist hits at the natural waist. The length is ideal for work as it is about an inch above the knees. With a slight sheen to the fabric, heels and accessories, you can easily go out in this dress as well. Fabric hardly wrinkles at all too, which is a major plus for me.

This is very comfortable and has a classic, stylish look. This could be worn year-round and is very versatile, flattering and drapes well. I'm a huge Icebreaker fan, so it's no surpise I love this dress. I read a comment about the neckline being too low, but that can be remedied with a cami underneath or any other layering option depending on the look you want to acheive. The low necline makes this a perfect night-out dress...add some heels and your'e good to go!
Versatile dress, great for travel

I have this dress in two colors, and am so happy I spent the money for both. The fabric is so nice, and you never get hot, even in humid environments. It packs really well, which makes it the perfect travel dress. It also has some versatility for wear... I've worn it with boots and leggings to nicer events, wore it in some mosques that required appropriate dress, and if you pull of the ties a little higher, you can create a shorter hemline, and more flowy top. Absolutely no complaints on this dress!

I recently bought this dress in black and fair to say I love it!! I was tossing up between the S and XS and ended up going with the XS I am 168cm tall and 60kg. It is slim fitting and has a reasonably low scooped neck line, the belt sits really nicely and pulls in on your natural waist line and is fitted across the bum and hips but if you have got it flaunt it hehehe!
Is super versatile can be worn casually with sandals or dressed up with heels and you still look super cute either way.
Love it!!
Wearing it at this very moment :)

Love the dress. Breathable (80F outside now)
I'm 5.8', 135 lbs, 32C top - I went for the M and i like the fit - a bit looser than my usual tops at the top but somehow it works well for the cut of this dress.

HELP! I ordered the small and medium and I am smack dab in the middle of sizes. If it shrinks I need the medium, if it doesn't the small is perfect. Anyone know if it shrinks and if so does it shrink a little or a lot....don't know which to keep.
Sterling Watson

Depends...if its made of cotton, or at least 40% or more cotton, it'll shrink. If not, it won't at all.
Dave Marcus

If you stick it in the dryer, it will shrink to Smurfette size. If not (and you're not supposed to) it will spring back to the same size and shape after washing and air-drying. Merino is a very resilient fiber. That may be no help whatsoever.
Nicole Lisk
Member since
Icebreaker tends to shrink a little bit but with the proper care it will keep its size- make sure you line dry it. Drying it in the dryer will shrink it a little but not to Smurfette size. Go with the medium unless you want it to fit tighter then keep the small.

Go with the small. My dress accidentally ended up in the dryer, and it didn't shrink much at all, certainly not by half a size. If you care for it properly and hang it up to dry, the small will be fine.
Great dress, true to size

Great comfy dress that's easy to dress up. Runs true to size. I'm 5'2", 32B, 26" waist, 36.5" hips and the xs small is perfect.
