Great dress!

- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I had the advantage of having tried this dress on before buying it. Once I tried it on, I had to have it. I usually go for a medium, and wear a small in this dress. I'm curvy, about 5'4", 135lbs and am a 32D (ish). I had none of the 'shoulder issues', found it fits perfectly... in a small, and is very flattering.
Pockets are great, love the wrap, and usually wear a tank underneath so it's not too low cut.
Nice dress

I would agree with the shoulder comments, but the wrap is very flattering and the length is perfect for casual or profession.

Such as miss, huge shoulders!

I love my Villa dress, so was really hoping for a good winter version, but as other reviewers have said, the shoulders are comically large on this dress. I'm 5'4" and have relatively large shoulders for my size, so I thought I might be able to get away with it, but it really throws off the fit, especially for a more petite person. The rest of the dress it great, even the pockets work, which I was skeptical of, but now I'm deciding whether I should return it.
Anyone have any luck with the shoulders improving with washing, or successful alterations?
HUGE SHOULDERS

I should have read the reviews more closely, I wish I had. I really like this dress and everything is wonderful except the shoulder... I have rower/swimmer shoulders (very broad) and usually have to size up to accommodate them. The shoulders on this dress are massive, really. Please listen. Pay attention and save the money for return shipping!

I agree. I bought the dress and had to return it because the shoulders/chest area was huge!!
Roma Dress - Lovely material but design of sleeve is poor

As I have said in earlier reviews I love icebreaker but I should have listened to the reviews about the weird fit of the shoulder/sleeve. I thought that since I had relatively broad shoulders that maybe it would not apply to me but not the case. I am 5 ft 7" and 130 pounds and an athletic shape the the shoulder seams finished part way down my arm - very weird and looked weird too. Returned it sadly but found an awesome ice breaker jacket that was a winner!
Shoulder issues

I had the same issue as a couple other commenters... The shoulders on this dress were just wrong. I love Icebreakers gear, and usually think the fit is great, but this was definitely a miss! I have broad shoulders and it was still hanging off me. I returned it.

Shoulders have been fixed for next year. Also you can wash it and the shoulders settle down quite a bit. I found the same issue but a wash helped immensely.

Strange Fit

I agree with the previous reviewer about this dress being best suited for someone with extremely broad shoulders, if anyone at all. I returned it as a result of the fit being so odd. My biggest complaint is that the seem for the sleeves hit several inches down my arm, instead of up on the top of my shoulders like most people prefer for tops. I would definitely recommend the superfine villa dress over this one, as it is my go-to dress for every occasion and fits perfectly. Hopefully they will refine the style for future versions of this, because it seems like a pretty terrible design to me.

Thanks, I was considering buying one in XS, but am rather skinny especially in the shoulders. I am 5'2 small.
Super fine Roma dress

The reviews were great on this dress, however I found this dress to be a very odd fit. I ordered XS, the shoulders ran very wide. The shoulder seam hanging beyond the shoulder cap. The shoulder cap itself had odd peaks at the top, as if it had been on a hanger too long. Although the dress came folded in a plastic bag. I fear the odd peaks are due to improper cutting and easing of the sleeve cap. The Merino fabric though soft and luscious, carried far too much static, and hence would be very clingy.
This dress would be best for someone under 5'4', and with very wide shoulders. I returned the dress.
Lovely shape

I had read some other reviews of this dress (maybe last year or on affiliated website/ dept of good) and everyone raved about this dress. I really like icebreaker fabric and have about 6 of their shirts and sweaters. This lives up to most of the reviews. Its a very flattering shape, cut well and put together well. Its classy and you could dress it up or down. While its thin its not see-thru. My only complaint is that it is cut for someone with huge shoulders. It is as if it needs shoulder pads. Odd, hopefully that was just the result of being on a hanger or folded oddly and will go away after a few rounds of washing.
Versatile!
